Pure greed, built a great business, but it was never enough, grow, grow, grow… Exploited the goodwill of so many staff, customers and industry pros.

Sunflower in Belfast, great little corner pub with 1 handpump serving local Boundary Pale Ale on our afternoon visit. Yard outside with pizza van. Came back in the evening for the Manouche gypsy swing band followed by folk club upstairs.
Green & white painted exterior at night with gated security entrance, a relic of the troubles. The 4 members of the Manouche gypsy swing band playing double bass, violin, and 2 guitars. The bar with customers at the counter and seated. Two pints of the hazy Boundary Pale Ale on the bar counter next to the hand pump.

I long for a time when very obviously being completely full of shit was enough on its own to mean you weren’t taken seriously. Now it seems to be a big selling point. More shit equals more clicks. All of a sudden the idiot is in charge.

It’s not every day you hire two new brewers. Guess not being on twitter for 6 months have filled me with optimism. So we’re just fucking going for it 😬

Interviewing people this week, as exciting as bringing someone new in is, I don’t love the process. Thankfully we’ve got some strong candidates to choose between, even if that makes things harder.

Everyone in Cabra seems to be firing into the solar too. Walking around there seems to be four or five different companies doing installs at the moment.

We are getting there faster than anyone realises.
Already 53 per cent of SA homes have solar on the roof.
And more than 700 home batteries are installed weekly in South Australia due to the current rebate, with more than 100 installed daily since July 1.
As of August, over 3,000 new batteries.

I’ve thought about it and I’m out. Can’t imagine the heating situation in the Áras is great.

We’re hiring. I hear we are ok to work for. But definitely ask around. All help spreading the word appreciated.

An absolutely wonderful piece, with a lot of names locals will recognize (so also a #SpeirGorm heads-up, not just for beer nerds). 😉

And I adore the art - love this take on Dalymount.

I really enjoyed this read. Not least because of the familiar faces, names & places from when I was active in beer before leaving Dublin. I was probably sitting near @stephenclinch.bsky.social in the Porterhouse years ago, when a mate and I also started brewing 😁
Dublin feels a different place now.
