Soon, TransLucent will be publishing its first newsletter. The launch will be the first of many as we, as an organisation, get stronger daily. This is evidenced by the fact that a trans icon, Professor Stephen Whittle OBE, joined our Board and recently became a Director of TransLucent.

Tuesday's rally was incredibly hopeful, with trans people and allies from across the labour movement coming together to say enough is enough.

Thank you for an amazing rally Conference!

We were so proud to have over 200 people turn out for us.

The labour movement is on our side 🏳️‍⚧️

Option 1: Sit on social media and moan.

Option 2: Advocate to the "decision makers."

That's why TransLucent is at the Labour Conference.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Positive Role Model (Gender) Catergory - National Diversity Awards 2025.

Gender is not an LGBT category, so I was delighted to be shortlisted for the final eight.

Many congratulations to Alex Knight of STEMazing, the deserved winner!

I dont think the EHRC was meeting any other trans led groups, Philippa
stephrichards.bsky.social
I want to confirm with our colleagues at @tacc.org.uk that TransLucent met formally with the EHRC four times between February 2022 & 2024.

We attended a multi LGBT meeting on 5/4/23, and I had a very short meeting with their Chairwoman on 6/7/23. We've not met with them since February last year.
stephrichards.bsky.social
Dear @tacc.org.uk as CEO of TransLucent, which is trans led (myself and Prof Stephen Whittle OBE) can I just confirm we have not met with the EHRC for likely 18 months. We will confirm the actual date as soon as we can.

As always, thank you for your hard work to support trans human rights.

We asked the EHRC whether they consulted any trans, intersex or LGBTQ+ groups before intervening in the 2024 Supreme Court case For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers.

Their answer? They didn’t. 1/

A reminder that the EHRC's argument in court was that their "best understanding of the law" was that a GRC *does* change a person's sex under the EqA - as everyone has understood for 15 years.

They then went on to argue it should not.

ADDITIONALLY
1/
C: SUBMISSIONS
These submissions, first, set out why this Court can conclude that the intention of s.9(1) of the GRA was that obtaining a GRC would change the sex of a person in law, subject to an express or necessarily implied exception made in the Act itself or in other enactments (s.9(3)). Second, these submissions explain why the EqA does not contain any express or necessarily implied exception to s.9(1). Third, they explain some of the difficulties, tensions and apparent inconsistencies that the Commission considers arise out of the second definition.

I’ve signed this letter calling for full parliamentary scrutiny of the EHRC’s guidance.

Trans people deserve clarity, dignity, and safe access to services - not uncertainty and exclusion. Parliament must ensure that any guidance reflects lived experience and protects everyone’s rights.

Racism, transphobia and homophobia are not protected characteristics; nor should expressing such views be free from consequences
If your ‘belief’ relies on denying someone else’s humanity, it’s not a right; it’s a prejudice.

1/🧵 Archive finds. This is a short thread.

The Supreme Court is wrong again.

This is particularly interesting: in 2003, the Government considered whether it would be discriminatory to allow trans people to marry, while still prohibiting marriage for cis gay couples.

DfE refuses FOI on meetings with anti-rights groups, citing policy development, and 'potentially corrosive effect on good Government'.

Tribunals have ruled that ‘discomfort’ isn’t enough to block transparency. The public deserves to know who’s influencing children’s guidance. Review requested.
Screenshot of a letter stating that information requested under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is being withheld. The letter reads: "Good afternoon, I am writing in response to your request for information dated 19th June 2025 to advise you that the information you requested is being withheld under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The exemption which applies to this information is s35(1)(a) which allows for the withholding of information if it relates to the formulation or development of government policy. Your request was as follows: I am writing to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000: Please provide copies of all correspondence (including but not limited to emails, letters, meeting minutes, briefings, attachments, and any related internal communications) between: The Department for Education (DfE) - including ministers, special advisers, and senior civil servants - and any of the following organisations or individuals: * Sex Matters * Transgender Trend * GENSPECT * Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) * LGB Alliance * For Women Scotland Please cover the period of the last 12 months from the date of this request. If this request exceeds the appropriate cost or time limits, I would be grateful if you could advise me on how it might be refined or narrowed. I would prefer the information to be provided in electronic format where possible. The Department is currently reviewing the draft Gender Questioning guidance. In addition to looking carefully at the responses to the consultation that closed in March 2024, we are also considering the relevant evidence (including the Cass Review which was published subsequently in April 2024). The Department engages with external bodies on a regular basis and a number of these engagements have related to the draft guidance. However, any notes from the meetings and any written correspondence with these organisations is subject to s35 (1)(a)." Document screenshot stating the Department is withholding requested information under section 35(1)(a) of the Act. The Department balanced the public interest in withholding versus disclosing the information, concluding that maintaining the exemption outweighs disclosure. While acknowledging a general public interest in government transparency and stakeholder engagement, the document argues that a "safe space" is needed for policy formulation and decision-making, free from outside interference. The Department consulted external organizations but withheld meeting notes to avoid providing an incomplete insight into the ongoing policy process. Releasing the notes would have a "corrosive effect on good Government and lead to less fully-informed decision making." Contact information and instructions for complaints or appeals to the Information Commissioner are provided. Reference number: 2025-0022347. Letter requesting an internal review of a decision to withhold information under the Freedom of Information Act. The request, referencing FOI request 2025-0022347 from June 19, 2025, challenges the application of section 35(1)(a) regarding policy formulation. It argues that the public interest in transparency and accountability, especially concerning the impact on children and young people, outweighs the claimed exemption. The letter cites Information Tribunal cases (DfES v ICO & Evening Standard (2007), Cabinet Office v Webber (2018), and HM Treasury v ICO (2024/23)) where speculative harm or embarrassment did not override public interest. It emphasizes the need for transparency to maintain public confidence and clarify the distinction between consultation and influence, given the sensitive nature of the draft guidance and ongoing consultation. The letter requests confirmation of receipt and a response within the statutory timeframe.

Listening and watching gender critical people, it becomes clear that regarding 'gender identity', they are either:

1: Vindictive.
2: In denial.
3: Self-centred.
4: Not very intelligent.
5: Have no concept of who they are, let alone anyone else.
