The right-wing press have been losing it at the Greens new leader saying "maybe even one party in the UK could be left of centre?"

As usual, every hit piece they write make the Greens look *brilliant* and the Green social media has been eating it up, ha

Don't threaten us with a good time, Daily Express.
Image featuring a graphic from the Bradford District Green Party. The background is green with the Daily Express logo in the upper left and a photo of Zack Polanski speaking into a microphone on the right, holding a cartoon-style bundle of cash with a pound sign. Below, a mocked-up newspaper headline reads: “Zack Polanski wants to redistribute our money and turn Britain into a Left-wing haven.” At the bottom, the Green Party logo and web address Join.greenparty.org.uk are displayed.

I've been trying to put my finger on why ICE/DHS lies feel so much more outrageous than normal cop lies, and I think it's because they don't lie like cops, they lie like aggressively stupid criminals

Bsky has a "gift links / gift articles" feed where you can read without paywalls, and 99% of the current articles on there suggest that America is in enormous, gigantic amounts of trouble.

This one in particular is a LOT but worth it.

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

Louisiana has had to greenlight $3 billion in new energy infrastructure to service Meta's facility.

That speech was quite light on specific Green policies but it’s clear that Polanski is a *much* more effective public speaker than Starmer, Badenoch or Davey, & possibly on a par (albeit v differently) to Farage. It’s no wonder Labour are privately pretty worried about possible losses to the Greens.

I, like many of you, got an official response to the nearly 3 million strong petition against digital ID cards. Predictably, it was the stupidest shit imaginable.

It's to stop illegal working - but there's already checks that are no different, and digital ID didn't stop it anywhere else. Hopeless.
thechiller.bsky.social
The government's response to the "no ID" petition. Make it make sense.

Not compulsory, but mandatory.
It's not a physical card. So how will people without phones have this "not compulsory, but mandatory" digital ID? #IDCard
To tackle these interlinked issues, we will introduce a new national digital ID. This is not a card but a new digital identity that will be available for free to all UK citizens and legal residents aged 16 and over (although we will consider through consultation if this should be age 13 and over). Over time, people will be able to use it to seamlessly access a range of public and private sector services, with the aim of making our everyday lives easier and more secure. It will not be compulsory to obtain a digital ID but it will be mandatory for some applications.

Reminder that @theguardian.com has a partnership with OpenAI, and has of late published a spate of asinine articles that are uncritical in framing, and just read as press releases for the company and for "AI" in general.
The headline/implicit framing of this article seems consistent with its biases.

Oh, man. After reading the article, what it actually says is that an historian did a lot of archival work and spatial research to determine the site of a killing and then the family of the likely perpetrator stepped forward with photographs to confirm identity.

Happy National Poetry Day to all those who celebrate.

This year’s theme is ‘play’ so here’s a poem which plays with some letters. It’s called ‘The Problem of Writing Poems in the Shape of Deciduous Trees’.
The Problem of Writing Poems
