Were I a Republican in congress, I would filibuster any attempt at a continuing resolution by reading the Epstein Files into the record, just to spite my own party for being so weak.

Sorry, but fuck off, Ian Levine. Just declined a long rambling post from the horrible old bastard. I thought he was banned from the group to be honest, we've certainly not allowed him to promote his crap AI slop on there before and we're not doing it, even indirectly, now.

C64 game devs: what parts of your code do you habitually assign to which memory areas? Do you make use of the RAM under the KERNAL ROM for screen memory?

Okay, it's time. I have a prized Cult of the dead cow Zippo lighter. These simply do not exist anywhere. But a CDC member is hurting and I want to encourage donations to the GoFundMe, so out it goes. Details in thread.

Bad News for Apple and IBM: We at Commodore are about that life. We come strapped and we *will* kill you.

Commodore: It's Personal

Bad News for Apple and IBM.

Shots fired, literally in the case of this ad, by Commodore as it pitches the Commodore 128 as the business computer of choice.
A rather clever ad with a photo of a C128 computer with a bowler hat (representing IBM) and an apple bitten into with an arrow through it resting on top and the tagline. It also lists of the pros against the competitors such as an 80 column display and up to 512k of memory.

An iPhone typically draws a couple of watts - maybe 6 watts if doing something particularly intensive.

A Commodore 64 draws 9 watts in standby, around 20 watts with the screen on.

As we can see, a Commodore 64 is several times more powerful than an iPhone.

Right now Bluesky is a joke. It’s impossible to take seriously because the people behind it are unserious. What makes BlackSky any different?
studio8502.ca
Is BlackSky going to refuse compliance with fascist laws? Are they going to protect my right to ridicule the pain of bad people? Or is it just another social media circle jerk that exists to flatter the egos of the people in charge?
studio8502.ca
It’s not a troll. It’s a fair question. What makes it any different? Why is it going to succeed where BlueSky fails? What can it do to earn trust?
studio8502.ca
Honest question: explain to me why I should trust BlackSky any more than the zero I trust BlueSky?

Operation Paperclip was us telling all those bad actors "Hey, we don't want the commies to beat us, we'll ignore your attempt at a thousand year Reich if you help".

And now we are crawling with neo Nazis.

Some things retro just didn’t age well. Like some movies.

“So there’s these geeky awkward guys, right, and they go to university and find others like them and band together.”

“With you so far, what do they do?”

“Sex crimes and chemical warfare.”

“I’m sorry?”

We don’t need “a PC but RISC-V”, we need crazy heterogeneous designs for out there computer things that only one in fifty will even understand.
studio8502.ca
I just want a 32 bit RISC-V CPU with exposed data and address buses (not multiplexed) and whatever else it needs on actual 3.3V pins. Not a fucking SoC that feeds the white slurry industry.

I'm just old enough to remember "Welfare Queen" discourse.

“Everyone has to suffer because someone might take advantage” is the lie every American tells themselves about social safety nets, so we might as well extend that delusion to everything.
Well, without some sort of record keeping Anyone could get loans, lie about what they owe and con pretty much anyone they wanted to.
I also don't like the idea of people who are a totally bad credit risk pushing up responsible people's interest rates to cover the asses of irresponsibly people.

Bitmap Books is trying out that new style of marketing campaign that Ubisoft and Sucker Punch did recently.

Change your statement to please the incels that never bought your stuff and will boycott company.

After this, be boycotted by the people who used to buy their stuff.

I’m not hard to please. Give me an old computer to tinker with and don’t try to murder my friends. Doesn’t seem a tall order, and yet…

Hot take: go ahead and buy human-made asset packs to use in your game. It’s fine. Just don’t use AI.

I would much rather just do old computer stuff all day.

Oddly no. One calling me a “performative leftist”, but I let that shit slide because who can tell what you actually do on social media?

I’m angry because the events of the day intrude into my life, and my conscience won’t let me ignore them. I can’t perform positivity.
