I'm no longer confused by either and I am so outraged that we have regressed to a place where women have even less bodily autonomy. Where coat hangers will once again become more than a symbol. Where angry white men standing on the sidelines make decisions for us all.

This is key to understanding the FedSoc Supreme Court: the facts do not matter. They will invent their own reality and substitute it for the reality we're actually living in.

Kavanaugh recently suggested immigration stops are no big deal if you're a legal resident bc ICE just promptly releases you

That is not, in fact, what ICE does

He invents a fiction bc the reality of the policies he supports is too disturbing for him to imagine

Brett Kavanaugh’s Racial Profiling Opinion Is Looking Sillier By the Day
Kavanaugh said that immigration agents “promptly” release people after determining that they are legal U.S. residents. They don’t.

Quantum mechanics of a macroscopic variable, published by today’s laureates in @science.org in 1988. In addition to the science, it’s remarkably lucid writing

www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

🧪
ARE MACROSCOPIC DEGREES OF FREEDOM GOVERNED BY quantum mechanics? Our everyday experience tells us that a classical description appears to be entirely adequate. The trajectory of the center of mass of a billiard ball is predicted wonderfully well by classical mechanics. Even the Brownian motion
of a tiny speck of dust in a drop of water is a purely classical phenomenon. Until recently, quantum mechanics manifested itself at the macroscopic level only through such collective phenomena as
superconductivity, flux quantization, or the Josephson effect. However, these "macroscopic" effects actually arise from the coherent superposition of a large number of microscopic variables each
governed by quantum mechanics. Thus, for example, the current through a Josephson tunnel junction and the phase difference across it are normally treated as classical variables.

From my little thread on “able-bodied” and its origins in the labor laws after the Black Death.
This is not the first time such rhetoric has been used to hurt the poor. The weaponization of "able-bodied" hearkens back to ideas older than America. In 1351, after a wave of bubonic plague, England's Parliament enacted the Statute of Labourers. The scourge had brought on a shortage of workers, and the law required that everyone under 68, "able in body," and not wealthy had to work—at no more than pre-plague wages. "This tendency to fantasize-when times change and things aren't what they were-that the poorest and most vulnerable are actually some sort of malicious freeloading class is a very old one," medievalist Elise Wang, an assistant professor at California State University, Fullerton, pointed out on Bluesky.

Withholding an endorsement for the Democratic nominee for mayor in your own city is bad enough, but then issuing a glowing press release praising the corrupt incumbent no one likes? All while doing fuckall to stand up to Trump?

I swear, he's got the political instincts of an Amish child.

What people should realize about "breaking up the MMR vaccine": Standalone shots for measles, mumps, and rubella are no longer licensed in the U.S.

So convincing parents to demand "separate shots" will lead those parents to a dead end ... because their doctors can't currently provide those shots.

Highly normal. Nothing to see here, folks.
Pregnant Women, DON’T USE TYLENOL UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, DON’T GIVE TYLENOL TO YOUR YOUNG CHILD FOR VIRTUALLY ANY REASON, BREAK UP THE MMR SHOT INTO THREE TOTALLY SEPARATE SHOTS (NOT MIXED!), TAKE CHICKEN P SHOT SEPARATELY, TAKE HEPATITAS B SHOT AT 12 YEARS OLD, OR OLDER, AND, IMPORTANTLY, TAKE VACCINE IN 5 SEPARATE MEDICAL VISITS! Reconstruction of Yunxian 2, identified as an early member of the Homo longi (Dragon Man) lineage.

This group also contains other Chinese and Denisovan fossils. Phylogenetic analyses suggest heidelbergensis, neanderthalensis, sapiens and longi lineages all originated more than 1 mya.
