It’s crazy how many cool and unique spinoff games (and original titles) only existed on the Nintendo DS due to the console’s unique features and limitations. Losing that has been one of the worst things about modern gaming.

It's probably more that Ubisoft has earned the reputation that their games will be half-off within a month of launch, and the borked early release certainly didn't help matters.
Ubisoft CEO on why Star Wars flopped: "Outlaws was released at a time when the brand that it belonged to was in a bit of choppy waters."

A bunch of ex-Ubisoft folks made a small team to work on the director's passion project, born from a deep love of RPGs from his youth, and the end result is the most lauded release of the year - which they've deliberately priced it so more people can play it, because they're proud of their work.
I find it incredibly depressing seeing folks make Expedition 33 a battleground over the validity of turn-based RPGs, and describing it as a AAA release when it's literally an indie team of 30~ people and the director has made it very clear he wasn't out to "fix" RPGs, but just make a really good one
