I think this might be horrible-- but, like fruitcake, it might also be fun to make and foist on the neighbors 🙂.

This is why we proofread. Going through a piece on a science-fiction novel, I discover I had written: that it "anticipates a war between the USA and Chins".

I read D.N.Angel New Edition, Vol. 1 by Yukiru Sugisaki. A new omnibus edition of a delightful love comedy with a supernatural twist from 15 years ago. I’ve been watching the anime too and it’s different enough to maybe say it’s a bit better.

5/5: This manga first appeared about fifteen years ago. This is a new omnibus edition (first two vols.?) with full-colour chapter-head illustrations, and maybe some other changes too; the description ...

🦕🦖GINKGO🌿🍂

“The ginkgo tree is from the era of dinosaurs, but while the dinosaur has been extinguished, the modern ginkgo has not changed.
After the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, the ginkgo was the first tree that came up. It’s amazing.”

Archaeologists have unearthed a Bronze Age metropolis in the heart of the Eurasian steppe: an early form of city as complex as those of contemporary, more traditionally 'urban' civilisations, showing how steppe polities were just as sophisticated.

People see huge backlists and assume that means people are raking in cash but I am telling you, esp writers who have been at it for twenty years: the book you buy might be the only sale for that title all month long. I've got old stuff that only sells one or two copies a year.

ICYM earlier, my review of Turns of Fate by Anne Bishop. Great start to a new urban fantasy series that feels similar to The Others, but isn't ripping off her earlier work.

Want to walk into and through an actual Iron Age house…and UP THE STAIRS?
Of course you bloody do.
Come with me.

Carn Liath broch, just sitting quietly beside the A9 as thousands whizz by without stopping. Their mistake.

Sun shone in such an angle that I saw how dusty my desk is, so I had to clean it, and while I was at it, dust the entire living room too. You know, instead of writing. 😀

do you think it's anti-romantasy as in counteracting like antifreeze, or in reverse like anticlockwise or opposed to like antisocial, or tiny food like antipasto
This week, I was sent a proof from one of the big publishers. In their pack, they described it as an "anti romantasy".

An anti romantasy.

I have so many thoughts about this, I honestly don't know where to begin.

I really need people to watch this. It's on Netflix and you know how they are about second seasons if the show isn't an immediate mega success, and I need more.

One of my absolutely favorite things about Korea is the public transit. There are buses, trains, and subways running across most the country and it's relatively easy to get anywhere without a car. There's still work to be done to make it 100% disability friendly but it is so much better than the US.
This is interesting — a recent study of mode share (the % share of transportation trips by car, transit, walking, biking etc) relative to city size and income levels in almost 800 cities in 61 countries. Interesting results. HT @davidzipper.bsky.social
