The story is insane. The acting head of cyber security, a Noem crony, repeatedly demanded to see highly classified information he didn’t need access to, and when staff set up a lie detector test as a condition to grant him access, he failed it. So DHS suspended the staffers.

If habeas is unable to free an obvious US citizen within a week then we need to revisit the statutory provisions abutting the writ; these cases must be expedited.
“… even after a federal judge issued an injunction that, while carefully worded, functionally signaled that she should not be moved.”

“She’s spending Christmas in detention,” said her attorney Victoria Slatton. “I don’t have a lot of hope she’ll be let out before then.”
“Slatton immediately submitted her client’s birth certificate along with sworn affidavits from family members present at her birth. She expected ICE to pause, review, and release her.

Instead, the agency transferred Diaz Morales from Maryland to Louisiana …” www.nickvalencianews.com/p/ice-detain...

Of all the sins of AI, this is an unexpected and deeply annoying one
Funny animal videos no longer being trustworthy just fucking sucks all around. I love the wonder of animal behavior and what it says about the experience of being alive. It's because it happened in reality that it's so fun. It's not fun if it was just made up. There's no wonder there.

An incomprehensibly stupid own goal. Healthcare, eldercare, and childcare are about to get a hell of a lot more expensive. And it's going to hit rural areas especially hard.

Hope the racism was worth it!
NEW: President Trump is expanding the previous 19-country travel ban to a whopping 39 countries (plus the Palestinian Authority), and appears to expand a block on legal immigration to now include spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens, who were previously exempted.

2. His family arrived legally under an immigration law MAGA wants to repeal

3. His father killed a woman while driving drunk, a crime for which MAGA aims to deport immigrants

And much more. Read it.
Greg Bovino’s the star of Trump’s deportation show. We trace his roots.
As a boy, the Hollywood movie “The Border" set the course for his life. He couldn’t believe the Border Patrol agents in the movie were the bad guys. Now that he’s in charge of deportation efforts caus...

Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

Insulting to have to point this out, but if you have spent even 30 minutes reading US history, you realize that every decade has been dominated by racist hysteria that the "new" people won't ever fit in.

This exact prejudice would have been applied to Miller's forebears, when they fled pogroms.
