I am watching season 4 Law & Order and some of this dialogue is !!! Claire Kincaid tells a 19 year old raped by a rockstar that if she (the victim) doesn’t press charges, he’ll win and she’ll always feel like a whore!

I think a lot of dysfunction on here comes from the idea that suffering makes you right and the more you suffer, the righter you are. Thus, whenever a person who is in some way disadvantaged disagrees with you, it becomes imperative to argue they aren't the right kind of trans, black, etc.
namitomoon.bsky.social
I've seen in some left-leaning circles a weird obsession of labelling white trans people as racists or saying there's a huge epidemic of KKK racism among the trans community and can't help but think is basically this but with transphobia

What do people think about giving working class Americans a $2000 tariff relief check for the unfair tax that has driven their grocery and housing prices up?

Dr Oz: "Some of the reasons that premiums are going up is because if you take people who didn't know they had insurance and therefore never put in any claims off the rolls, then you still have people who are charging enough to make up the difference. But I do think there are criminal elements."

So every time people do "only 80s/90s kids remember" stuff it's always the same things and it feels fake. Here's some real stuff they never use: in the 80s there was a crazy amount of anti-Japan hysteria and in the 90s everyone had to make a joke about Dan Quayle even children's cartoons and Fallout

I’m tired of saving Trump voters from the consequences of their own decisions.

If farmers want a bailout, they should call their republican congressmembers and ask them to use their article 1 powers to get rid of the tariffs.
proptermalone.bsky.social
look we’re obviously going to bail out the farmers and I think there’s a reasonable case for doing it given that we’re doing the tariffs, since they are getting absolutely rocked by the tariffs.

but this is an argument for not doing the stupid tariffs.

Friends of south asian descent, one of my lifelong friends is urgently trying to find a stem cell type match for a close relative. Please share (and get tested! Even if you’re not a match for him you can still save a life!) 🙏
My close relative was recently diagnosed with a rare blood cancer (CMML) and chemotherapy is ineffective. His best hope for survival is a stem cell transplant, but he hasn't found a matching donor yet.
Why this matters: Stem Cell Matching is much different than the matching of blood groups. Stem Cells are strongly tied to the ethnic group of the patient. As a result, patients of Indian/South Asian descent struggle to find matches because our community is underrepresented in the donor registry. Please share this message with your friends, family, colleagues, and networks in the Indian/ South Asian community as quickly as possible.
Who can help:
-Age 18-40
-Indian or South Asian heritage
-Living in the U.S.
-Healthy and willing to donate if matched
How to join the registry as a Donor:
-Go to website https://www.nmdp.org/ (The website used to be called BeTheMatch.org)
-Fill out a short form
-The registry will mail you a free cheek swab kit. Swab your mouth and mail it back. That's it!
-The National Registry will register you and put it in the database. Your information is kept confidential.
Matching and Extraction of Stem Cells:
-If the National Registry finds a match for a patient, the donor is contacted.
-Donor takes an oral medication for 3-4 days that increases the stem cells in their blood
-Donation process is very similar to donating blood and done locally where the donor lives
-Donation is anonymous and costs are covered
-The nmdp.org has detailed information on the Stem Cell process.

Scratching an itch can damage your skin and make the urge even worse.

Instead, try rubbing or gently stroking it with your fingers or a soft makeup brush.

What I picture every time @kenjennings.bsky.social announces someone's Final Jeopardy wager is "nothing at all"
Screenshot from season 11, episode 10 of the TV show The Simpsons. A character named Ned Flanders is seen from the side in a very tight-fitting red and blue ski suit. His hips are angled so his bottom sticks out prominently. He is also wearing a red ski helmet with the black visor lifted to show his face. He has a thick mustache and round, thin glasses. His eyes are closed and he is smiling. The image has been heavily memed due to Ned proclaiming his suit fits so well it feels like he's wearing nothing at all as he wiggles his bottom.

Quite a comedy act, the Canadian Senate of the mid-1980s
Excerpt from Canadian Senate debate, November 22, 1984:

Hon. C. William Doody (Deputy Leader of the Govern-ment): What a team.
Senator Murray: —Mr. Lalonde came into the House of Commons with his budget and announced that Official Development Assistance will be reduced by $245 million from the dollar level previously allocated. That is what Marc Lalonde did to Allan MacEachen and to our Official Development Program.
Senator Frith: It is a good thing that Sitting Bull was not a Liberal or we would be hearing about his administration.
Senator Perrault: We are getting a lot of bull now.
Senator Murray: Once again, I regret the postponement of the achievement of that target. For honourable senators to come in here, two months into the life of the Mulroney government—
Senator Frith: If you can call it that.
Senator Perrault: It is barely living.
Senator Murray: —and attack our credibility, gives new meaning to the old Gaelic word "chutzpah." I say seriously that they have no right—
Hon. Sidney L. Buckwold: Honourable senators, on a point of order, "chutzpah" is not a Gaelic word. For the record, I merely wanted to correct the honourable senator.
Senator Murray: I must confess that I knew that it was a Yiddish expression. I made that comment simply to provoke my honourable friend who, I thought, was, perhaps, in a state of torpor in his unaccustomed seat in the backbench.
