The Minnesota legislature's record in 2023 specifically was *spectacular*. The DFL got a trifecta and used it to pass 20 years worth of bottled up legislation. I'm a state legislature nerd and couldn't keep up. By the time I wrote my legislors about anything, usually it had already been passed.
Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government.
