The interpretative schema often adopted by default on Twitter (which has some parallels with "paranoid reading") is deeply damaging to anyone who has trouble context-switching. Arguably it's not a healthy model of discourse even on the site.

i didn't realize how bad twitter had poisoned my brain until i was telling my friend a story out loud and prefaced it with a bunch of disclaimers and she interrupted me to say "you don't have to talk like that. this isn't twitter this is real life, i'm not going to yell at you"
