Great idea!
That’s so cool! Montreal’s bike share system is rolling out trailers that work on BIXIs as well as personal bikes.

They’re hoping to have 50 by the end of the summer, and hundreds over the next few years.

This report confirms what many of us already know: e-bikes are a game-changer. #ebikes
The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%.

E-bikes support fewer car trips.

Speed kills. Bologna’s example shows that slowing traffic saves lives.
Last year, Bologna adopted a 30km/h speed limit and has seen its first year without pedestrian fatalities since 1991. The change also significantly increased the number of people choosing the bike.

This study makes sense. We need far more protected bike lanes, with barriers between cyclists and motorists, not merely painted bike lanes.
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

To great uncertainty and controversy, in 2007, Ljubljana closed 12 hectares of its city center to private cars. At the time, 40% of residents approved.

A decade later, no less than 97% were against reopening the streets to motor traffic: “None of us can really imagine cars ever staging a comeback”.

This is so true. I grew up riding my bike to school, the park, and grocery store. It’s too bad today’s kids don’t enjoy that same freedom.
Where bike-friendly infrastructure is the norm, kids gain freedom. No car keys, no backseat waiting. They learn independence, time management, and how to get around on their own. A small shift in how we design cities helps them grow into confident, capable adults.
