Three years ago, three other reporters and I ID'd and called any school accused of having litter boxes for furries.

We found one (1) in the entire country: Columbine's school district.

Cat litter was for a "go bucket," in case kids were locked in during a shooting.

if a major politician held an emergency rally about the current ongoing coup by the richest man in the world, I think people would go to it. Shit is well and truly fucked. I can think of a couple of people who should do that right now.

Oh look. A President, a Governor, a Mayor - all at the crash site at the Chesapeake Bay with first responders. Not swimming. Showing empathy and leadership.

I am nonbinary. The gender that no longer officially exists in the United States. I was offered the chance to change my gender designation to "X" on my passport and driver's license in 2023. I decided not to and here's why.

So now I have an "F" on my passport and my driver's license. When historians look at government records centuries from now, they will think I was a woman. This is what it means to be made invisible, to have your history stolen from you.

I understand hating opinion columns, I say this as an opinion columnist, but reporting is good and if American democracy is going to survive we desperately need reporting to expose corruption.

“Don’t ever apologize for taking up space.”

This is what I say to people, mostly women, mostly younger women, when I’m out in public spaces after they say “I’m sorry” to my “excuse me.”

The responses I get are pretty amazing in all the best ways.

Seriously. Don’t apologize for taking up space.

Early on in our relationship, I was driving somewhere with my partner and his mom. When we got out, the wind caught my car door. I apologized and his mom said, “For what?” I explained I didn’t mean to slam the door.

Her response sticks with me to this day: “Don’t apologize for making noise!”

I keep reading that this is a place for kinder people, but gentle souls have always been among us. We just couldn’t hear them anymore. Perhaps our gathering here is proof that we missed those voices. What a wonderful thing to believe about ourselves. It can be a bold move to choose kindness.

Perhaps a reason my partner and I get along so well is that we’re definitely on the same page regarding murder. More specifically, we both do not condone or commit murder.
It’s so shocking to me whenever I hear about couples that murder together. I can’t even find someone that likes the same shows I like.

Recently I found a hack to keep my shoulders in place and ease some pain from their hypermobility. I am just baffled that some people’s bodies naturally keep their shoulders in place like this. It’s so much more comfortable and I’m very jealous of you people with your normally-mobile joints

A few months ago, when I was feeling really low, unworthy, unproductive, etc, I started making lists at the end of my days.

I call them Ta-DID! lists.

I’d write down everything I did all day. Dressed, fed kids, worked, took a walk…

I’d fill pages and then I wouldn’t feel bad about myself anymore.

And holy shit is she everything you want her to be. Huge science fiction lover, obsessed with the nuances of the writing. Working with her was a dream. 14/10 would recommend.
