Waiting for that tipping point when most sensible people realise that transporting a single 80kg person in 2.5 tonnes of SUV was not the height of technical advancement but peak stupidity for the human race.

Interesting study from Germany on e-bikes and the modes they replace:

That’s one hell of an article title. And one hell of an image in the article.

“Call to drop Range Rover sponsorship of Wimbledon as SUVs 82% more likely to kill children.”

Good idea.

New research provides conclusive proof that 20mph in London is saving lives.

14 yrs of analysis at 150+ sites - reviewed by experts - shows:

❤️40% fewer deaths (vs 7% drop on roads where no changes were made)
❤️75% fewer children killed & 50% fewer kids hurt

And slower speeds deliver so much more:

Too many people at the top of the BBC think that they should be competing with the private sector not providing an important thing that the market can't. Should focus on providing detailed coverage of 'what's in it?' that someone with the reading age of a seven year old can parse.
I’m old fashioned enough to think the BBC should be leading on what the deal is and what it means. Rather than the political claims from both sides.

Delighted to have authored this report, launched today, busting one of the biggest myths in British politics.

The public doesn't see action on public health as 'the nanny state'. In fact, they want bolder action - incl among key swing voters.

This has major implications for policy & politics. 🧵
❤️‍🩹 | NEW REPORT: Voters want bold action on health – and don’t see it as 'nanny statism'. Our new research with Public First shows that smarter public health policy isn’t just good for the nation – it could be a vote-winner too.

OPINION: Anyone who has lived through a democracy’s collapse knows the score: Authoritarians' early popularity can delay resistance, making it feel risky or even anti-democratic.

But that’s precisely when the real damage gets done.

Pavement parking is illegal in London, but in the rest of England the Highway Code only advises against the practice.

Yesterday I called for action during a debate I held in Westminster on encouraging more children to walk and cycle to school!

Pavement parking: Call for ban to improve school run safety

Moving from London to Sheffield I was totally shocked at the way people park all over the pavements.
70% of wheelchair users said pavement parking was a regular problem, forcing them into the road.

London can ban pavement parking; why can't the rest of the country?

There seems to be widespread support for it; for example, 78% of Daily Express readers back a ban.

Let's do it.

Their work is extraordinarily courageous - they are constantly targeted by Russian forces, in violation of the Geneva Conventions.
