Look man I don’t think the people being poisoned by data centers really care if you remove the generated assets before shipping, and I don’t really care if you “only” use the machine that stole my shit and convinced teens to off themselves for internal PowerPoints.

Cool motive. Still bullshit tho.

This is mostly interesting but still doesn't quite explain why Japan/Tokyo relies so darn much on overstimulation (by my standards, at least).
Why Japan’s internet looks weird — unless you live here
A closer look at Japan’s maximalist web design shows how cultural values and practical needs create an online world richer than it appears.

i think that really the main reason AI is so attractive to all the richest stupid people in the world is that they see it as a way to add a subscription fee to interacting with the world in general. why bother getting people to sign up for 8000 services if you can just charge rent on being alive

EVs beat petrol cars on lifetime emissions — even on “dirty” grids.
Battery production is carbon-intensive, but EVs quickly repay that debt and end up 21–71% cleaner over 250,000 km.

We can’t wait for perfect grids: electrify transport and clean the grid now.

however many trillions spent on developing Algorithms and hoovering up as much data as possible and amazon's recommendation algorithm still goes "oh you bought one window air conditioner? okay, do you want 15 more?"

the best way to do this without it sucking is let seasonal produce dictate what you make

it's autumn so all the squashes are cheap or there's a surplus of winter veg going for pennies or there's a sale on eggs

it becomes a challenge and it makes it actually fun (for dorks like me)
Despite being a pretty decent cook and baker, I cannot meal plan at all.

I hate every bit of it.

I don’t want to be locked into making things on specific days. I’m lucky if I have a vague idea of what I’m cooking each week.

I don’t know how people do that for a whole month.
