It's mostly funny to me, but some jackball tried to insult me by calling me a luddite because I pointed out that his take on crypto was braindead.
What’s the funniest reason someone got mad at you on Bluesky this year?

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden or Alice in Chains.

So many songs on this album still get airplay, nearly 30 years later.

I will note, for the record, that a lot of artists NOT from Seattle also dropped excellent albums in the 90s.

Times are tough, and some of my paid subscribers have had to cancel lately due to financial hardships. I get it, and I wish for better times for us all. Unfortunately, paid subscriptions are now dipping into unsustainable territory. I am hoping to get eight new paid subscribers before the new year.

do not participate in the derogation of culture is a great 100-level answer! but they're just going to put kid rock or some other jackhole on for those open nights. i prefer the 300-level response of show them why we are and will remain the culturally dominant force in america. fuck back better.

Oblivion, then and now.
Quote this with your favourite game NOW that was released in 2006, and what your favourite was THEN (if you had one)

Localisations/early access count, remasters/ports don't. Remakes depend.

If someone says to you, "what are you doing about students' use of AI?" ask them, "do you think that this should be my problem? How good do you think my response can be? Should it not be up to legislators & administrators to defend against a commercial industry's attack on your child's education?"

I've now watched the censored 60 Minutes report on CECOT. If you watched it too—and if you have any decency at all—I'm sure you came to the same conclusion I did: winning elections won't be enough; people like Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem will need to be charged and imprisoned.

I think it was @gregpak.net who recently said something like "action alleviates anxiety." Take that to heart. You will feel less alone, less helpless, less defenseless if you become involved in local progressive action. It's already happening all around you; go outside and find it.

The Americans Who Saw All This Coming—but Were Ignored and Maligned
Call them the Cassandras: the people—mostly not white and male—who smelled the fascism all over Trump from jump street. Why were they “alarmists,” and how did “anti-alarmism” become cool?

A definitional element of extremism is that harming an out-group is inseparable from the success or survival of the in-group. For extremists, such harm becomes an intrinsic need. They come to believe that denying them the right to harm out-groups is the same thing as denying them the right to exist.
The right, along the Roberts Court, is trying to nullify the Reconstruction amendments guaranteeing equality under the law, in order to restore the Antebellum Constitution, which envisions “liberty” as an eternal aristocracy of race and class (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

TikTok is removing clips of the leaked 60 Minutes segment.

The Ellison family (which acquired Paramount — CBS’s parent company — and The Free Press, making Bari Weiss Editor-in-Chief of CBS) is set to co-own TikTok through a Trump-backed deal.

Also, this is me choosing to go Full Crone about this stuff. What? What's that you say? Hmph. Kids.

Someone should tell Bari Weiss this.

Bari Weiss does not seem to have a good understanding of what's been going on with the Alien Enemies Act, including that courts -- including SCOTUS -- have repeatedly faulted the administration for failing to give detainees a meaningful opportunity to challenge being sent to El Salvador.
