The late Glenn Burke, who hit .340 for the Spokane Indians in 1972, was born on this day in 1952. A talented outfielder for the Dodgers and A's, Burke was the first openly gay player in MLB and is also credited with inventing the high five. He tragically died from AIDS-related complications in 1995.

In my day, you received a Thomas guide on your 16th birthday, and it had both LA and Orange County or you were not a worldly adventurer. I think they made one for the Inland Empire, but by the time that was important, you made sure you had printer ink for map quest

Just posting some projects I design and build in the PNW. This is a kitchen with a combination of Fir and painted cabinets, inset doors with traditional overlay drawers, scribed crown and trim, and solid brass hardware. It really worked out well and I’m excited to share this project. More to come…
