I think that her being a white woman "mouthing off" to him is part of the trigger. He already likely felt "disrespected" by her wife earlier. To me, this explains some white people's "she had it coming" attitude. How DARE a white woman not submit to his authority? He had to put her in her place.

The reason that centrist pundits are so enamored with IQ and race science is that acknowledgment of what a disadvantage it is to be marginalized in this country simultaneously invalidates both their own place in society and any solution that isn’t “better social safety net/schools/resources”

I want to note, because the initial article doesn't make this clear, that the professor being taped in the video is calm, clear, and patient with the student. Furthermore, the professor appears to be teaching absolutely basic medically accepted science & history of gender expression.
