People spend a lot of time wondering why the left is worse at using independent media to control the national narrative.

A useful exercise is to ask why the left is also worse at selling snake oil and pyramid schemes, because I think the reasons are basically exactly the same.

I'm just a poor country political historian and not some big city media fella, but it *does* seem like a slightly big deal that the leader of the United States presented comically faked "evidence" in the Oval Office to justify his power to disappear ordinary people into a Central American prison?
Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

I don’t know, millions of people got in the streets a few days ago, the moderates are freaking out about their money, and the President of the United States is carrying out a wildly unpopular, intentional demolition of the economy.

Might be time for leaders with spines to actually get in the game.

Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't spoken to the families with trans kids forced to move from state to state just to make sure they can get the healthcare they need, only to have Trump try to shut it down nationwide. They aren't some abstraction or poll number--they're families who love their kids

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

It is our job as Americans to make sure they can NEVER appear in public life EVER again.

And this was a period in which the Klan wasn't some fringe group operating in the shadows, but rather a dominant force in places like this.

Linda Gordon's Second Coming of the KKK notes how firm a hold it had on Muncie specifically, but George Dale refused to be cowed.
If George Dale in Muncie, Indiana could risk his life - and spend regular time in jail - to constantly make fun of the KKK in his newspaper in the 1920s, we can take no shit from MAGAs today.
