I would really caution anyone against implying that paywalling this feature is a legitimate response to public outcry. The paywall is an endorsement, not a restriction. Musk is saying "this thing you're all talking about is valuable. Pay me for it." The actual material effect is just monetization.

The YouTube search is entirely, completely fucking broken. If you search normally, you get nothing but algorithmic slop and unrelated recommendations, including a lot of the same results over and over. Newest, while also barely functional, was one of the few ways to find less viewed videos.

On the one hand, since we have the OSA anyway, I'd love it gone.
On the other hand, the OSA fucking sucks and VPNs circumvent it so it wouldn't stop anything.
