Funny thing is that some of the arguments for hereditary peers have merit (independence etc) until you realise that those traits aren't unique to them nor do they embody them especially well.

I was asked "what would be different if this really were an intentional genocide against the Palestinians," and no one wants to hear the reality that it would be over by now. Genocide is not "a brutal and indiscriminate war that goes on for a long time." War crimes are not genocide.
