The only "appropriate use case" is "none".
It is my greatest hope that they can be made to see reason and ditch genAI, since the wording here means they aren't raw-dogging it like LEVEL-5. But if I find out genAI was used in a Sonic game, that will be my "canary in the mine shaft" moment.

if you use genAI for art and justify it in any way, not only are you basically telling me and anyone who has spent years of their life drawing that their work is entirely meaningless, you are demonstrating such a dismal lack of creativity or love for the world it makes me SICK
More people need to be louder about how they personally cannot and will not tolerate genAI in any capacity.
