very excited to share this update about bringing AT to the IETF!

last week we uploaded two drafts to the IETF datatracker and today we heard that we’re approved to host a Birds of a Feather at IETF 124 (the formal meeting towards establishing a working group)
Taking AT to the IETF | Bluesky
Last week we posted two drafts to the IETF Data Tracker. This is the first major step towards standardizing parts of AT in an effort to establish long-term governance for the protocol.

The problem with banning someone who hasn't broken any policies is that the evilest people in the world may own this platform in the future and they can use that in the other direction and point to the OG builders actions and I swear we've seen this before am I in a timeloop

A little proof of concept I've been working on, it's a version of Bluesky that you can run locally, even on your laptop, that pulls just the data you care about from the firehose, indexes it, and provides you an interface to view and interact with posts.

I wouldn’t say this is 100% accurate but enjoy it for what it is.. a nerdy concept explained with meme cats. 🐱

On a brighter note, I do think it's really cool that this conversation about decentralized protocols is decentralized at the protocol layer and still accessible across networks

After a brief demo at FediCon 2025, a new, open source fundraising system for the #Fediverse has been released to the public. It's native to the network, and you sign in using your own Fediverse account.

Leaflet looks like a great project, exciting to think about forks for science (micro?)publishing on ATProto! I also really like the bsky posts as inline comments feature
leaflet.pub
New in Leaflet: two new block types: MATH and CODE

Math: enter mathematical expressions w/ TeX notation (excuse the nonsensical example for now haha…send us real ones?)

Code: full code blocks with language selection + themes!

We *also* added inline code, which you can enter `like this` :)
screenshot of an example code block, with source code for CodeBlock itself in Leaflet in the "one dark pro" theme, preceded by the text: "code blocks! with language selection…AND a bunch of themes, so you can find one to match your publication :)" screenshot of the same example code block, with source code for CodeBlock itself in Leaflet in the "red" theme, preceded by the text: "code blocks! with language selection…AND a bunch of themes, so you can find one to match your publication :)" screenshot of an example math block, with TeX source text above in block edit state, then in the middle the text "with math blocks, ⬆️ this renders as this ⬇️", and below the rendered 'math' expression which is actually a nonsensical equation about Leaflet

the full expression text entered is:

leaflet = ∞(vibes) +
\frac{publishing}{atproto +
\frac{creativity}{color +
\frac{data}{images + words}}}
