This is a different Chicago vigil than the one we just attended. With hardly any notice, several happened across the city today:
Crowd size has swollen to maybe at or around a hundred or so. They plan to have some speakers for the cameras, then blow their whistles in unison at 8:00.

As I watched the series finale of Strangers Things, I felt gratitude. It gave me a place to reflect and grow and mourn the last 10 years. I am so grateful for how I have changed and the joys that have come into my life. We’ve also lost a lot. Stranger Things grew up with me and brought us together.

Other things found digging thru old travel art-kit this holiday:

Study for a lichenalope

A fire-eyed lichenalope won't (always) eat fire as per myth.

It's (probably) just judging your campfire, not planning to eat it & leave you cold, lost in the woods.

Still. Best leave it a snack offering, eh.

New Illustration: "We Beat 'Em Before..."

Taken from a British WW2 poster, the original features a WW1 German soldier at the top. I just swapped it for the Nazi soldier it had at the bottom.

9. That time my nieces rescued a boxy stag beetle, & while it recovered they gave it a name.

Athena was a good beet. Technically, the species common name is lesser stag beetle. Rude. So we gave it another name.

(Yes. I know lesser meant smaller, don't @ me, cos IDC.)

Maybe in another time it would be trite, but not today. Embracing yourself as queer gives you the power to protect your family and friends? That's awesome actually

People sometimes ask me for a business card, and I never have a card, but I almost always have some random assortment of science education material on me. So when a man asked me for my card earlier today I dug around in my pockets & handed him a MILF zine, horseshoe crab card, and a squid sticker 🤷🏻‍♀️
