I haven't brought this up in a while on here (felt like I should give other people the stage for a while), but I am still out of work, and running out of money to keep my bills/loans covered.

ko-fi.com/wildweasel - Donations highly appreciated. Pointers towards employment, even more so.

Almost couldn't find my photo. This spot. This was the morning that made it all worth it.
View from SW Main Street between SW 2nd and SW 1st Avenues in downtown Portland, facing east towards Naito Parkway and the offramp from the Hawthorne Bridge (visible on the left behind some autumnal trees). It is still early morning, so the sun is still mostly behind buildings, particularly the one being reflected in the windowed facade of the 1st and Main building in front of us.

When I was still going to PCC Cascade, I'd ride into downtown Portland just before sunrise. When I'd wait at my next bus stop, the sun would be glaring over the river, across Naito, and down the street I was waiting on.

Not usually a morning person, but I'd gladly make exceptions for that.

Here’s a little news break for your social feed. There’s nothing like a crisp autumn morning in Portland, Oregon.

OPB captured the Rose City sunrise by drone on Tuesday, Oct. 7, showcasing the Willamette River, bridges, skyline and view of Mount Hood.

I feel like a lot of folks slept on this one by nature of it being a licensed game; I'll say I was largely unfamiliar with the finer details of FotNS before buying this one brand new, and it's turned out to be quite fun. The combat has a different flavor/flow than Yakuza but shines in its own way.

followed a link to a game on Google Play and found that it was categorized not as a game, but a "Playables", and that it was not actually available yet, but I could click a button to "Pre-register." As near as I can tell, the game in question did not have a price tag.

Man. What are we doing, here.

idea: modern day Stephen J. Cannell Productions logo, but instead of writing the script on a typewriter, "Stephen" is using an iPad in a stand with a Bluetooth keyboard. when he's finished writing, he still dramatically yanks the "paper" (ipad) out of the apparatus. it lands behind him with a crash.

If you are a marginalized person (in any way) and are worried about what the future holds for you: remember that the most badass thing you can possibly do is go on living.

Those who stand against you are threatened by your very existence. They fear you. Be that fear. Do not compromise.

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

ISS Deluxe has a cheat code that turns the match officials into dogs. It's adorable.

The Continuum web/JS port now has a bunch of fan-made "galaxies" (level sets) in addition to the original one, and apparently one of the galaxies was just a 17-level sampler pack for the full 75-level set advertised in this incredible flyer.
A flyer for a Continuum level set, promising "75 of the hardest levels anywhere" if you send a disk and 50 cents (or $3 and no disk) to an address in Oklahoma. The flyer has several different fonts and a few custom graphics.

I have no idea what character level I was at, but I had over 150 HP and got extremely lucky by finding a Battle Axe on an early floor, on top of identifying a bunch of rings and the healing potions early on. Unfortunately, my death occurred to a floor-eyeball; just too many misses in a row.

Surprisingly, this guy really rips, handily beating a top-line (from a few years ago) Google Pixel and a slightly older (but full-sized) HP desktop computer, but falling just behind a 2014 Mac Mini and a 2019 MSI Modern laptop.
Spreadsheet snippet - The HP averages 264.3 FPS at 1280x1024, and a Performance Index of 732. This puts it above a Google Pixel 6a, and Heimdallr, a full-sized HP desktop with a somewhat weaker Nvidia graphics card, but behind Mimisbrunnr (a 2014 Mac Mini) and Sleipnir (a 2019 MSI Modern laptop).

The patient, yet unnamed, is specifically an HP Pavilion Slimline 400-214, with a 1.4 GHz dual-core AMD E1-2500 APU with on-board Radeon HD 8240, and roughly 5 GB of RAM (but I swear I put more in there).
Neofetch and CPUfetch running under PeppermintOS on the current patient.

Neofetch identifies the computer as a "400-214" (HP Pavilion Slimline 400-214), with an AMD E1-2500 dual-core at 1.4 GHz, 5324 MB of RAM (which seems... anomalous?), and an AMD ATI Radeon HD 8240 / R3 series GPU (onboard).

CPUfetch further identifies the chip as being under the Jaguar microarchitecture. The Quakespasm terminal output refers to the GL renderer as "KABINI."

This other machine to be specific. This is an HP Pavilion slimline PC, formerly the property of my uncle. HP somehow found room to install an entire DVD drive into it.

It sports an AMD APU of some kind, and some RAM+SSD that I installed in it myself for said uncle to stave off its obsolescence.
The slimline HP Pavilion computer, lying on its side. A panel hiding the DVD drive occupies about half the size of the entire front panel.
