BREAKING: I just introduced a discharge petition to force a vote on extending TPS for Haiti.

Our Haitian neighbors deserve to continue their essential work & contributions to our communities.

And if Donald Trump won’t act to protect Haitian lives, then Congress must.

NEW: There's a bill in Massachusetts that'd do something really important — give a pathway out of prison to people, often women, who are in prison due to a crime they committed against their abuser.

Several states adopted a version of this very recently: OK, NY, GA. Can Massachuetts be next?
Massachusetts Could Be the Next State to Give Abuse Survivors a Pathway Out of Prison - Bolts
The Massachusetts Survivors Act emulates recent resentencing reforms across the country that allow for reduced sentences for people with convictions related to their abuse.

“ICE’s proposal specifically requested Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUVs, Dodge Durango Pursuit SUVs, and Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle SUVs.”

New SUVs delivered to Mass. ICE office. Locals worry escalated ICE activity could come.
It’s unclear what the vehicles will be used for. Stickers on windshields indicate they’re for work purposes and have customized features.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

This is terrible. I’m no longer a California resident. Why can’t they buy Massachusetts instead?
More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

If it isn't illegal to say fascism, it's incorrect to say fascism. Basically, don't say it. It's a no-no word, which means we don't use it, because it's not a good word to use. OK! Who's ready to make a macaroni picture?

What if we invented true nanobots. It would allow us to fix any injury, cure any disease, even de-age our bodies BUT we only used the technology to secretly give kids cancer.
Here’s Aaron Rodgers talking about vaccines causing “turbo-cancer” and killing children. Rodgers then wonders about the nanobots implanted inside the Covid vaccines.

As someone whose lungs are messed up from growing up in a working class industrial Detroit neighborhood, this makes my blood boil.

Dr. Oz, RFK Jr. would say that it's our fault for having these chronic conditions instead of... well, racist environmental policy.
The cost of Grok: "I can't breathe at home, it smells like gas outside. How come I can't breathe at home and y'all get to breathe at home?"

Pfft. Via an intensive multipronged effort to crater vaccination rates, eliminate food and workplace safety standards, cut FEMA to the point of having post-hurricane cholera epidemics, promote violent unrest, etc., we *can* achieve the great goal of spending more on acute medical care.
60% of Americans have a chronic condition. Among people over 65, it's 95%.

Saying most of our health care spending goes to chronic conditions is just another way of saying it goes to health care.
Dr Oz says being healthy is a patriotic duty

Worse, he says they spend 70% of Medicare & Medicaid funds on chronic illness & aren’t “getting their money’s worth”

This is the quiet part said out loud.

They don’t want to cure chronic illness, they want us to take the blame. They don’t want to pay.

I cannot express enough how much these people actively hate the U.S. Constitution and would tear it into shreds if they were permitted.
Stephen Miller says they are “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus, which is only allowed when the US has been invaded or during an insurrection, which would not allow people to challenge their incarceration in court if they are arrested and detained.

A big part of the reason for the significant "inefficiency" in government is that the law builds in process and redundancies. It is easy to increase "efficiency" if you are not law-abiding, but the scare quotes are needed because legal compliance is not inefficient if it is part of the goal.
Interesting piece which reveals a lot of the tech bro ignorance of government: DOGEr comes in, expects to find lots of inefficiency, is at least willing to acknowledge he was wrong unlike the hard core ideologues.
