One of the more confusing aspects of Russia in Europe is the question of what exactly Russia offers to those in its sphere of influence. There's little economic growth to be had dealing with it and little in the way of massive FDI. There are bigger economies in Europe and around the world.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

I have noticed an unfortunate tendency amongst some people to draw direct parallels to the lead up to the Iraq War. This is unfortunate because it’s lazy thinking: if the ultimate distillation of W’s foreign policy was stupidity, the ultimate distillation of Trump’s is insanity. Much, much, worse.
