I haven’t seen it yet, but I will after reading this.
I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

Great thinker, great writer! Here’s the first chapter of his book, which will give you a sample to savor.
Hasn’t been a writer that shows you new ways to think since Bill James in the late ‘70s-early ‘80s.
And that was baseball specifically, while Brian’s world is the universe.
Enjoy!

For those who still care, the ‘25 White Sox look as bad as last year. Just a middle finger to the fans.
Here's an early look at the ZiPS x @fangraphs.com depth chart for the next team in the ZiPS team-by-team rundowns, the Chicago White Sox.

I've grown fond of this place! But to ward against the possibility that Bluesky might one day collapse into a social media black hole, you should preemptively subscribe to my newsletter, which has free & paid options. And you can always find me (& the newsletter) via my website at andreapitzer.com.

Once again, an encouragement to follow and subscribe to one of the brightest thinkers and writers currently working.
Or at least subscribe to the free content. If you agree, you can pay $5/month to not miss a word.

Hi new followers! Here's the best way to follow my work right now. There are paid and free subscriptions. (I encourage you to fork over some of your coffee money, though, because it's good stuff, and you'll support other people seeing it, too.)
I currently have a newsletter in which I write regularly about how societies devolve into authoritarianism & what that means right now in the US & around the world. It also features essays about my unsettled childhood in West Virginia. Soon, it will also include art, surprises, & links to resources.
