every social media site, this one more than most, seems to encode the very American "nudity = satan" ethos into their content moderation by default, thinking this is the baseline somehow
fireantprincess.bsky.social
apart from everything else I think bsky should just not autolabel any content that is not harmful because while there is a clear harm prevention in autofiltering CSAM autoflagging people’s bodies as sexual is also harmful.

This labeler will be shutting down. We will first be unlabeling everyone who is labeled and then will cease to operate. As the unlabeling operation will take an unknown amount of time, we are not setting a specific timeline other than as soon as possible.

I understand this is exhausting for the Americans to hear but what do you mean that's not prohibited yet?

One of the (many) legal gaps that needs to be filled after this nightmare is over is to prohibit federal law enforcement agencies from using federal funds to create propaganda videos with anyone in custody. This is all about spectacle and content creation, remove the incentive and the means
smith.senate.gov
Weird how that didn’t make the cut.

The smallest party in Dutch parliament got 0,68% of the vote in the last election.

It WAS a fascist splinter party so that's not great but that can be enough.

A party that gets 2-3% in every election forever can be an important kingmaker, guaranteeing governments cover from individual rebels.

I think there are still shared norms we can appeal to when we talk to the marginal MAGA voter. But there really are no shared norms left with the core of the movement.

Let's just say it's mighty odd the official atproto site leads the FAQ with this. atproto.com/guides/faq

The only serious looking site ever to link atproto to blockchain is associationofresearch.org/a-world-with... but see lisaamartin.wordpress.com/2015/02/08/o... about that site.

someone needs to do a thorough writeup of every clear tell of atproto as a blockchain project that pivoted, because their 2025 reflex is to deny it as hard as possible even though they're all coiners and so much of it reeks of blockchain

I love when Andy Ngo does one of his David Attenborough-style posts about Antifa and highlights some kid who took a bong rip and waddled into the protest dressed like a giant muppet.

My favorite flavor of his commentary by far.

We've heard enough full-on screaming anecdotes about him from two presidencies. Eventually whatever degenerative thing is happening to him will get to the uncontrollable outburst stage.

During the episode Victoria’s “Friend” (named Blorbo) pendant’s mic heard her talking about her experience and started sending her whiny messages which she read out on air. One of the funniest things to happen on the show.

Here’s this week’s Better Offline. I’m joined by @davidjroth.bsky.social and @vicmsong.bsky.social to talk about Sora 2, Meta’s AR glasses, the “friend” pendant, and why none of these products can ever truly deliver meaningful friendship.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

So many of the philosopher life arcs or eventual legacy are mega depressing but Leibniz at least had the bittersweet thing of "The universal language wherein you can calculate the answers to questions cannot exist, but your research lead to the computer, our greatest invention".

Now that's uhh

Out of historical Socrates, Leibniz and Husserl, who do you think gets the most outraged about there now just being a kind of machine that allows you to make anything you want seem true?
