The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner made some great movies but he was also unafraid to speak the truth, and was one of the public voices who knew you don’t squander your platform, and only got louder about opposing evil fucks as he got older. Legend.

The December Comfort Watches series continues tonight with... Dredd?!? Yes! Dredd! Which presents us with a horrible place to live that you would probably never want to visit, and yet makes it entirely watchable:

The December Comfort Watches 2025, Day Five: Dredd
I think it’s important to note, when writing a series of essays about “comfort watches,” that not every movie on that list is going to be a comfortable watch. Some of them might e…

This is wrong. We should not trap the souls of dead people in computers. Souls should be trapped in amulets
For real, check this out. Evil.

Fuck this. It takes us about 14 hours per week, all in, to do an episode. The idea of some just reproducing content on their own timeline is nothing less than demeaning and frustrating to those of us who work hard to craft something of our own quality.

If you didn’t listen, I wrote a little essay on Little Hatred by @joeabercrombie.com last week, and recorded it! This week, we’re starting The Trouble with Peace and also releasing an interview with @robwhart.bsky.social! Absolutely amped for you to hear both of them.

But what is too much to bear?
(Not being alive.)
So we kept being alive even as they destroyed us.
(So we buried our secrets though they tried to extinguish our secrets with us.)
Up until this very day.
(They keep coming, they never stop.)
You couldn't kill us all.

It’s gonna be wild. (I get the sense that we’ll probably have to split another episode or two, though. Haha)
Three more books to go in this series, first for The Age of Madness. Hopefully I can keep pace with @wordsandwhiskey.show, looks like they're gonna plow through this trilogy at breakneck pace.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

(So the horrors are real, and if you want a of dose of joy and realism with just a hint of history speaking to us in modern times… please watch Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio.)*

Man, I cried reading the end of Red Country this time. Hot damn.

I think I’ve said previously that this was my least favorite of the books by a lot, and while it still may be… reading it twice this year, and doing it in this format has given me an entirely new appreciate for it.

Still lowest tho

Leaves on the Water
A drink for the beast in all of us. Truly a big ol' surprise of a cocktail, as I blindly built this bad boy, just with "Lamb" in mind... and I think it turned out great! Simple instructions: add all ...
