Not seen this one before #FungiFriends, think it’s Green Brittlegill, Russula aeruginia, found beneath Silver Birch. Caps of the mature specimens were very green, younger ones were paler. Stipe chalk white & tapering at base, gills white & crowded. Such a pretty mushroom 💚
#FungiFriday
Photos of green-capped mushrooms beneath Silver Birch trees. I’ve not seen a Brittlegill with a green cap before! The young specimens were pale minty green deepening to a darker moss/olive green in the more mature examples.

No, it's not. It's all a lie. The blunt truth is across the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them.

Outstanding piece by Stephen Daisley.

Ethnicity is no barrier to Britishness - it's culture and integration.

That means 'smaller cohorts and aggressive integration policies' - and tackling the institutions that 'have amplified grievance narratives and radical anti-Western ideologies'.

Yay, congrats to @willgeorge.bsky.social on finding a York Groundsel!
@bsbicountries.bsky.social was hunting for one the other day, but they are hard to find at this time of year.

Found this in York. It's a groundsel, but is it a York Groundsel?! @bramblebotanist.bsky.social

We always knew that Labour cares about little else other than keeping private developers happy.

But here's proof showing off to JP Morgan despite destruction of some of the "rarest creatures in our country."

Let's make that description Labour votes.

He doesn't want areas where there is a 'preponderance' of one race over another. My kids school in rural Suffolk had one black family in a school of 1200 pupils. But that's not what he means, is it?
bestforbritain.org
Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

Am wondering if all of those suddenly deciding they’re against communities living “parallel lives” might reconsider their support of religious schools? Or indeed private ones?

In Ireland we grow up learning about how in the Dark Ages pilgrims would travel here from all over Europe to read books that had been saved here while they were lost elsewhere & I think we need to get our politicians to think like this about things like Basic Income. A light for the darkening world.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

It's a pretty big deal that the NYC Bar Association--one of the most prominent and respected bar associations in the country--is accusing the President of ordering the "unlawful summary execution," i.e. murder--of civilians in violation of US and international law. www.nycbar.org/press-releas...

Do you think there's anything in the theory I've seen in a few recent news articles, that the increase in Channel crossings by asylum seekers in 2025 has been primarily driven by the clampdown by EU countries (particularly Germany) meaning failed asylum seekers come here to avoid deportation?

"But the polls..."

As much as I think polling, in the *right* and *responsible* hands, can be a useful aspect of democracy insofar as they help us understand public opinion, they should in no way dictate the weight we give to politicians and parties.

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...
