I was 36 when I wrote a post about a mortifying LinkedIn doofus.

Analysis showed it achieved +12.9% over baseline sentiment. Almost unprecedented.

Why did I succeed where others fail? How would I leverage this to exceed other Q4 KPIs before year end?

Here’s the story 👇

When decimalisation occurred in 1966, the Australian government compiled an 81 page file on dangers of using decimal coins in Christmas puddings. There was a media campaign warning people not to use the new coins in their cooking. The file is now digitised.

Please to be taking a little break from meetings with "Can I ask a stupid question? <unnecessary pause + question>." Or "To be honest <statement that does not require veracity check>." Or "<Simple proposition>, if that makes sense" or "To be fair <statement that has nothing to do with fairness>."

Congratulations, those of you who decided to platform fringe voices and create a climate of fear and hate out of ignorance because those voices insisted a non-problem was a problem. They're now on an HHS stage trying to ruin children's lives. You will live with the harm you have done forever.

As I understand today's discussion, we can stop an ISIS cell by policing the speaker list at writer's festivals and the BA syllabus at Unis. And by "stopping demonstrations." This is madness.

Building off @cameronwilson.bsky.social's reporting for @crikey.com.au, I highlight how we appear to have a baptist & bootleggers situation in Australia, where it appears the gambling industry was a big force behind the "social media ban for teens" in an effort to kill a plan to ban gambling ads.

We’ve talked about the Australian social media ban that went into effect last week, how dumb it is, and why it’s already a mess. But late last week, some additional news broke that makes the whole thing even more grotesque: turns out the campaign pushing hardest for the ban was run by an ad agency that makes gambling ads.

Pretty sure they meant to write "They weed in the pool."
Marlene Parsons and Edward La Rue Sr. met in the pool during a water aerobics classes. Both their spouses had recently died, and neither one had been interested in remarrying.

But this month, they got married in the shallow end of an Illinois pool.
