I appreciate the fact that the Eurogamer ARC Raiders review is drawing attention to the fact that it uses AI. I also appreciate the fact that it's making people mad for not simply being outright praise to the game. Eurogamer used their platform to do something powerful, and make a stance.

Sure why not? Although I have a feeling I know what a lot of people are going to associate with me...

It is a testament to how lucky (or unlucky?) that I am that Ness is level 20 in my Earthbound save, yet I've had Homesickness happen twice.

Within a four level gap, I've had a 3/256 (1.17%) chance odds happen TWICE.

Clearly I should have played the lottery with these odds.

And this is why a promise of a vote is worthless.
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

ERISA won't save you. The ACA market entering a death spiral will cause massive failures in the health care delivery system. Even more hospitals will close. Rural clinics will go under. Entire practices will be sold to venture capital.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Would it be helpful if we did a talk on what an insurance death spiral is? And why ACA premiums entering a death spiral will mean that people who rely on employer-sponsored insurance will also be fucked?

Or do folks already have a good grasp on that?

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

None of what he's saying makes any sense. And is not in line with what was going on during the shutdown at all.

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead

Millions of Americans went without a paycheque.

Millions more went without SNAP & endured the trauma of not knowing where their next meal would come from.

They suffered because healthcare is worth fighting for.

They rewarded the Dems with a blue wave and Schumer just ensured it was for nothing

YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED A VOTE. YOU HAVE NO PROMISE OF A VOTE. REPUBLICANS HAVE TOLD YOU THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN THEY WILL NOT HONOR ANY GUARANTEE.
My statement on the funding deal to reopen government, protect federal employees, and vote to protect health care:

This is like throwing in the towel on a boxing match, then trying to continue the fight despite surrendering and the judges having already declared your opponent the winner. It doesn't work that way.

If you wanted to fight, you should have held fast and not had a vote in the first place.
Schumer: "However this vote turns out, this fight will and must continue. Democrats must fight."
November 10, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Cool. Just gonna see my healthcare costs go up absurdly high when it never gets a vote.

Congratulations, y'all played yourself and now we're all going to suffer.
EIGHT Senate Democrats have voted to advance the funding measure so far after the deal was reached:

Cortez Masto
Durbin
Fetterman
Hassan
Kaine
King
Rosen
Shaheen

If the existing 52 Republicans hold, that's 60 — enough to advance this agreement. Final vote still to come.

if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

I honestly have no words if Democrats actually cave on the shutdown for literally fucking nothing. I am utterly furious, however.

Why take this deal, at this exact moment? The shutdown is backfiring on Trump; he's getting booed at football games; his party's losing elections; he's losing legal fights on SNAP and firing of Federal workers. Why *help* him, right now, unless you get something in return?

Is this the explanation?
I think the reason that chuck Schumer is folding is because the air traffic crisis is the first part of this that might actually effect him and his rich donors so he's folding after even a fraction of the suffering so many of the American people have felt this month
