#BackStories
#Pubby I beat the #Meg'sMonster DLC and got to see all of the backstories of all of the characters! Nancy's story was really sad. :( I think I liked Golan's story the most because I got to choose which food to eat and do the daily test things. I got really good at them!

also all the sad backstories were so nothing sfdsgsg like in a way I don't even necessarily find to be realistic, just felt like the author was purposely pulling punches. from the way ppl talk about the series I was expecting something a lot more complex or fucked up

Noir Dedede is making me realise I really vibe with edgy characters who are antiheroes and are misunderstood and have tragic backstories like say, Shadow.

I changed my pfp on Discord to Noir Dedede for now because I just vibe with him hard man.

Clancy is a good storyteller but horrible at writing characters with any depth. I've read the books multiple times, and all I know of Jack Ryan's childhood is he played football and his dad was a cop. The only characters who get backstories are PoC who joined the Army to get out of the slums.

To be clear things are still very much WIP with some of the MC backstories, the greater cast overall, the power system, and I haven't really outlined any of the story yet other than things I've thought about in my head. But I've gotten a grip of the main 4 and the male protags. Almost all but done.

Digging into a March 1987 issue of LOGIN Magazine and came across one of my favourite things to encounter in RPG sections of Japanese game/tech magazines: mini-replays (text and image lets plays) and character profiles. In this case, for the writer's Wizardry II: Knight of Diamonds session.

Show your GM how much they mean to you this holiday season with the Decuma Deck!

Decuma works with any #ttrpg system or setting and guides the entire table through the creation of character backstories, locations, NPCs, and more!

i just think maybe the best h doujin anyone ever made is the one with the fat dragon girl and the hunky and very sweet assassin guy with a pretty face. they get to share their tragic backstories! she grabs his ass! he even gets dragon tf'd in chapter 2!!! they just don't make em like that

I’ve heard that Josh O’Connor steals the show. It’s odd that the movie mostly focuses on the priest, instead of showing all of the other character’s backstories.

Fun fact ......?
All of my ocs backstories are based on songs I listen to..? .....maybe..?

The world portrayed in My Dress-Up Darling is remarkably kind. There are some instances of actively painful events (particularly in the backstories of the older characters) but whenever the main characters open up, they consistently find the world is kinder than they expected.

I really hope they touch on her and Val's backstories like they did Vox and Alastor.

Want to make your game jam characters more interesting?

You don’t need deep backstories or complex motivations

All you need is:

1 strong trait
and
1 point of friction that challenges it

Here’s an example using Iron Man

meanwhile our boys are hanging out in the sauna, swapping backstories, getting sweaty, tugging at each other's clothes, etc.

Working on some backstories for my GW2 characters and I think my asura is going to be ex-Inquest because why not? I like "runaway from bad organization" stories. 😅

At first, SNW seemed to be reviving this in a fresh, playful way, with episode-sized stories, a constraint which TOS made a storytelling advantage. But the “need” for recurring “bad guys” and intertwined backstories has begun to dilute the idea of discovery with how it will feed those narratives.

Pros: THE BOYFRIENDS ARE BOYFRIENDS FOR REAL.

Cons: there were too many/the book was too short. I wanted more time with their backstories and conflicts.

It was a good addition to the series either way 🙂‍↕️ I'll definitely continue when the last book comes out in Feb.

Book Shelf #185. Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, 2022. Finished this in a week and now I should watch the streaming movie Mickey 17. An interesting plot with some strange backstories. I guess the movie is somewhat different and a comedy too. We'll see.

...I think we might return to the current time in the chapter after the next one, if not even in the next one. Bets on if Luffy fell asleep during three minutes of listening to backstories?

Aaaand... I didn't see anyone make a huge stink about that moment when G4 took huge artistic liberties with Tirek's and Scorpan's backstories.

It's made worse when the game has to inevitably address the world itself, the backstories and the large overarching narrative, resulting in prolonged expositions written in that style of prose. It's a classic case of an overly ambitious title pressured by well-defined limitations.

Hey, I just want to say your game looks great. Reminds me of my childhood, when I would draw characters, maps, weapons, and make backstories for them! Wish you success.
