interesting. pup thought it might have been an old Optiplex, which update via .exe
could get some thermal paste for super cheap off of like ebay, or even use toothpaste (yes, this works, pup has done it many times and is fine so long as the CPU doesn't get too hot)

It did, yep! I've now fixed it in BIOS, which should have been trivially simple, but Win11 has to make even booting into that a twelve step process.
Mostly I wanted to avoid having to crawl under my desk to unplug or switch things off every time I shut down.

I knew I could turn this off in BIOS, so I went to boot that up. Only, Windows 11's "fast startup" options make BIOS boot impossible. Even though the key for BIOS is still displayed on the motherboard splash screen during startup.
Had to restart my PC five separate times to config and test. 😑

I don’t want the new releases to completely remove them as espcially the fashion segments at the end of the books are some of my favourite parts of the toy press releases, but I think things like the bios should be put at the end rather than the front or released seperately

I think a lot of apprehension towards getting started with fss(at least with English speakers) is due to how the English releases front load you with bios and more that you aren’t actually supposed to fully take in before actually reading, making the mags seem more daunting than it actually is.

reflashing bios would be fine if it wasnt a headache, cause this 2009-2011 system uses legacy bios, which as far as i found in my searching cant be reflashed or updated, or can be but requires a janky eeprom writer setup, and reseating the cpu would be something id, do if i had the thermal paste to

Jealous of scholars who proudly proclaim they are immigrants in their bios. I'm not trying to hide it, but as a WOC I worry that as a scholar of race, people assume I lack scholarly objectivity (w/ white scholars' objectivity assumed). Was relieved my press did away with author pics.

One easy thing faculty & admins can do to signal to potential students that you aren’t under the MAGA thumb—put pronouns in signature lines, Zoom name boxes & official social media bios.
That makes schools that ban pronouns stand out, & it’s a noticeable signal to LGBTQ+ students & their families.
