Singing along with @animatronikki.bsky.social while poor @danacorn.bsky.social trying to ask us something between choruses at the MoPOP & we were captivated by a 20 ft high screen Talking Heads video is a core memory for me now.

Dec.2, the Robin Hobb artifacts (I love that the items are called artifacts) will Mo longer be on display at the MoPop museum in Seattle. But lots of other cool stuff will still be there, so I urge you to visit. Science Fiction Hall of Fame! Alien Queen! Captain Kirk's chair. Jimi Hendrix!!!!!

Oh hello. Bram Stoker? More like Bram Stroker am-I-right? #MoPOP #Vampire

More photos from MoPop/the Seattle Center today: with Chris’s statue, with Kurt’s guitar, doing the Shawshank rain thing because it had started raining, and the sky after the rain.

The only time I saw The Beach Boys play - I also saw them shopping at the EMP (now MoPop) gift shop once - was on this tour. They did "Somewhere Near Japan" and nothing else off the album.
Today's vinyl is Still Cruisin' by the Beach Boys, the penultimate Beach Boys record in my vinyl collection before we move from Beac all the way to Beat.

my old roommate used to work at mopop and would interact with celebrities all the time for work and the ONLY time i was jealous was when she came home and said she checked henry winkler’s fucking coat and he was “adorable”
henry winkler, he was our director on the dolly parton movie (who was also nice af), where I also got to work with john ritter who was so fucking cool, kept all us kids laughing between takes, which was kinda bad cause it was a serious scene haha
Who is the nicest or kindest celebrity you ever met? For me it was Wilson Cruz—I met him at a comic book convention and he was incredibly sweet and humored me while I raved about his various important roles and then he gave me a big hug. He smelled amazing, too.

Bonus comics mail call: I've been hunting this book for > than a year. My white whale. It's the MoPOP-exclusive variant of Spectacular Spider-Man #300, w/ cover by the talented Coast Salish artist, Jeffrey Veregge, who unfortunately passed away last year. This will be one of my most treasured books.

Had family come in to town this weekend and had some touristy fun around Seattle.

Here’s some of the sights from MoPop, so much history there. What other museum has a full Donatello, Keith Haring art, and Kurt Cobain’s guitar?

Plus, a cute couple’s pic from the top of the Space Needle.

The Seattle Public Library has “Museum Pass” and they partner with a bunch of places here and once every 30 days you and a +1 can go to MoPOP or the Seattle Aquarium or Seattle Art Museum and more!!

If it helps, Species is rad and has the same artist from Aliens, H. R. Giger. The first two movies are somewhat quality, and even as the franchise devolves into full camp, it stays entertaining.

(I took these pics last year from our local Sci-fi Exhibit at MoPop)

Disclaimer: While I'm speaking at Seattle Worldcon in August, I don't write #scifi anymore. My panels are on the future of #edtech (once a career), Seattle's innovation history (once a column) and MoPOP archives.

The last will include images. Lke these. Panel info: seattlein2025.org/program-and-...
