1) First and foremost, the article provides no or very little evidence that nondrug rewards have a relevant impact on incentive-sensitization per se. It also conveniently ignores previous research showing cross-sensitization between drug and nondrug rewards.

4) There is very little mention in the article of the contexts/settings in which drug and nondrug rewards are encountered which prevents any deep understanding of the nature of their complex interactions and of their underlying neural processes.

3) The article appears self-contradictory. We are initially led to believe that by “hijacking” the brain reward system, drugs negatively interfere with nondrug rewards to learn shortly after that nondrug rewards can, in fact, rebalance drug incentive-sensitization.
