#Reservist
Being a reservist means submitting to military discipline. Weapons training is strictly supervised.
It isn't Gordo showing up on Saturdays with what he brung.

These are the moments where being a reservist brings solace. If the absolute worst kind of crisis happens, I know exactly what (very small) role I will have to play and that I have trained to do it, and this is very comforting.

The UK government introduced the Armed Forces Bill to Parliament on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

This legislation includes the changes regarding veteran recall ages and reservist status. The maximum age at which a veteran can be recalled for service is being raised to 65.

it’s definitely possible even easy to NN a septapole least degree lock-in that preserves market potentiation. The source is perennial even if the premise is closed. A monopoly reservist is still monopolist.

only word of OG NAFO and Polish Army Reservist.
FR Navy have realistically only one Carrier Strike Group, destroyers of Theirs always have Anti-Ship missiles.
GER Deployed two assault vessels, one carrying Helicopters, second carrying Strike Air Wing with VTOL.
Both ships have Anti-ship Missiles.

I don't understand your point. Israel's population is 10 million people from all walks of life. There's no problem with with their Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Those jobs are federal lifetime employees who are Arabs, Druze, Jews, Christians etc...not reservist young ppl called up for war.

One Ukrainian soldier corresponds to 27 Homo Sovieticus. As a Finnish reservist I consider this acceptable performance.
Ukrainian forces killed 27 times as many Russians as they lost when they fought to regain the key city of Kupiansk, according to an intelligence assessment provided to the British military
Ukraine forces killed 27 Russians for every soldier lost at Kupiansk
UK officials learnt of the ‘kill ratio’ in a briefing on Kyiv’s efforts to regain the key city

The raising of reservist call up age from 55 to 65, as being discussed on @lbc.co.uk right now with @mrjamesob.bsky.social is part of the Armed Forces Bill introduced to Parliament yesterday.

But this is just one part of a great many in the whole bill - as I explored here...

My husband was a reservist until he was 38 after National Service, which he didn't finish until 28, due to academic deferment. Would you consider that too old?

Germany is sending 13 guys after the reservist association basically said "Make it official or we'll go camping in the ice desert ourselves"

British armed forces minister Al Carns, to deploy to Norway late Feb as a Marine reservist.

kenne mich da nicht aus. bin Reservist der Harzer-Roller Brigaden

Good idea, but I live in the UK, so the chance of my being attacked by a quasi-state armed thug is basically zero.

I may be in Boston and in Houston, two separate trips, later this year, so I'll take note.

I'm also an Army reservist, so I could be in Greenland, might take the idea there.

Thanks.

Bit late to it today!
My MC in #Ellamir, Ella Oakhall, does not wield arms. But her ally Cmdr Merely, as a Naval reservist, will use anything as a weapon - a cutlass, a flintlock pistol, a great beam from a bulwark shattered by cannon shot. His preferred weapon, however, is somewhat niche...

Alright, time to get into some of those weeds I promised! The theme of this week and next will be fighting-centric. Weapons and armor this week. Militaries next week. Today's #JanuaryWorldbuilders Q: What weapon(s) are used by your MC (or another important character?)

Quick, ANY 🇫🇮 reservist or cadre mil, these are supposedly trained people doing (based on gear) a dangerous high-speed entry.

Anything you might change if this was a bunch of conscripts? 🫣

In defence (no pun intended) of the policy, people are fitter and healthier than 1940s. My brother is an RN reservist & he'll be happy that it's been extended. Love the pic.

Probably a retired reservist. Starmer is desperately trying to stay on Trump's...trumpet.

Lance Roberts' 2026 bullish outlook seems laughable amid looming threats. US gov't reissues travel warnings for Russia & coerces student loan borrowers. Perfect storm brews with Ed Dowd's credit destruction warning & military's reservist call-ups. Chaos ahead? #Reservists

You could thereby generate a much wider population with basic military skills in the event of invasion. The semantic shift to “reservist” made it a lot less palatable for average people to volunteer for this kind of thing, knowing they could be sent to Afghanistan or Iraq.

65.... It'll be mobility scooter sections next. And you can do a lot of damage with a walking frame - as I know to my cost.
In fact, I knew of a fully retired reservist who was in this age bracket who, unofficially, played a role in a significant conflict in the 1980s.
