They say that all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Samoa Joe and you can see that statement is not true.
-John C. Calhoun, probably
So much of the reactionary tech elite and rationalist movements' views, epitomized in Elon Musk, are indistinguishable from Calhounism. Here is Calhoun's famous 1948 speech arguing that Jefferson's assertion that "all men are created equal" was wrong. teachingamericanhistory.org/document/spe...

Finally, we should abolish the Electoral College so that every American's vote for president counts equally. Oh, and let's make DC, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa states with actual fucking representation in Congress and the right to vote for president .... 3//4

Smart move, GL. Look at what the U.S. did to Puerto Rico, Samoa Americana, USVI, they are all so poor.
Greenland has made clear that it would rather remain part of the Kingdom of Denmark than join the United States.
January 14, 2026 at 3:54 AM
entirely not the point here because we're standing at the banks of the Rubicon in terms of foreign policy psychosis but if Greenland becomes the 51 state before Puerto Rico, Guam, Samoa, or the Mariana or Virgin Islands, I'm going to lose my mind.
Republican congressman proposes bill to make Greenland 51st state
Republican Rep. Randy Fine of Florida introduced a bill to annex Greenland and make it the 51st U.S. state.

like compulsory prayer during a brief daily curfew [1st amendment] or a host being responsible for acts of a guest [equal protection]. The U. S. constitution has restrictions on all incorporated territory (American Samoa is unincorporated), and restricts the powers of states.

They have their own immigration law and office [uniform rule of naturalization]. Faʻamatai is the chiefly system for both Samoa and American Samoa, including legislative seats [titles of nobility, republic?]. Faʻa Samoa is the way of life and customary law, +

Not an expert! I've read that American Samoa sees advantages in NOT being covered by the existing U. S. constitution. Specifically, land ownership is largely communal and there are Samoan-based (racial) restrictions [14th amendment]. +

THEY REALLY DO.

my favorite was by far a samoa until i tried an adventureful and i was like. this is dangerous. this is a dangerous cookie to exist. i am going to give myself a sugar headache if i do not lock the fuck in on my self control.
January 14, 2026 at 2:48 AM
the convenience store near us has samoa milkshakes and i could ruin five or six of those in a day
January 14, 2026 at 2:47 AM
they're literally insanely good. they're so outrageously decadent. objectively i could eat more thin mints, but the experience of a samoa cookie....

the adventurefuls are somehow even more sickly and decadent than the samoas, though, and it's ridiculous.

States and Territories:
Make D.C. a state, make Puerto Rico a state if they want it, offer to combine our pacific islands (Guam, American Samoa, the Marianas) into a single state for the purpose of representation if they want it (or three territories, if they want that).

Made panipopo tonight.
Had to use some crema to thicken as I did not have 🥥 cream; just milk.
It's still addicting.
Dammit.

#TechnocracyMovement. Elon Musk's grandfather, a POS just like him (it runs on the family), was part of it. One of their hideous goals, an utopian "North America Technate" covering from Greenland to, wait for it.... Venezuela (including Samoa Islands). Coincidence?

What a slap in the face to the residents of DC, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and other territories we govern. He would award statehood to Greenland, doesn’t even want it, before DC and our existing territories. Fuck him!

So much for Puerto Rico, Guam or American Samoa
January 13, 2026 at 11:27 PM
Of course not but I just found it telling he thought they could easily merge with Alaska instead of granting it a status like PR, Guam, or American Samoa etc.

Conservation protects more than land, it protects moments like this. Healthy ecosystems support clean air, stable climates, and vibrant life. Protecting nature today shapes the world we experience tomorrow.

A draft government protocol for journalists covering press conferences has raised concerns that it could restrict the work of media in the Pacific island nation of Samoa.
Journalists flag Samoa’s draft media protocol
“It seems that the government is shutting down all avenues to remain transparent. Why does a government do that when there is nothing to hide?”
