#Watchmen’s
I didn't mention it before @number8axel.bsky.social , but for Part III I hope you're looking forward to a sex scene that is even worse than Watchmen's

Don't think I have gotten this mad about an adaptation since Watchmen and all of Watchmen's problems were just surface level readings, not an actually morally putrid changing of the story.

It's not a good theory. It adds nothing dramatically, it's pretty well disproved by a reasonably close read of the text, and as I said yesterday, Watchmen's layered, but not filled with unresolved mysteries.

Great one. It's hard to find new good stuff related to Watchmen's characters!

Was there ever a way to remove PCCs beyond losing the next election? I feel an example like this, given the position, should be grounds for some kind of disciplinary response beyond the court.

"Who watches the watchmen's watchmen?"

We’re in the Guildhall Tavern and all the guildsmen, from Warriors to Carpenters to Milliners, are over here laughing at the dweebs from the Night Watchmen’s Guild

With Watchmen's cinematic adaptation finally escaping development hell, The End is Nigh would offer an episodic accompaniment to Zack Snyder's epic. Does it live up to the acclaimed graphic novel or film?

Haha no doubt Mike. He’s got a proper cocky watchmen’s hut on him, Merse. And yes, Le Tissier will be touring with David Icke not before long 😂

Sorry I can’t get over how funny this is. Watchmen’s not even a satire.
The Teen Titans, after learning that the peace corps only operates in respectful collaboration with local customs and practices, set out to help finish the construction of a dam over the superstitious objections of local inhabitants.

If they can’t get into fantasy? Bone is a bad choice. If you don’t love superheroes, Watchmen’s story won’t work on either level (straight up or as a deconstruction).

Do the work and tailor it. Every person likes something comics can offer them.

Happy shopping!

Just didn't have the exposure myself, so Watchmen's mention was it for me.

Joys of being in the Upper Midwest, I guess.

But you dug that Watchmen's satire of the implausibility of a Batman-esque Owl, let alone the likely middle-aged spread of one? You can both chortle at the dorkiness and be in on the joke underlying (sp?) it. Best wishes!

watchmen's original ending, but gibbons was like "i ain't drawing all those cars", so
The only way to save humanity and unite the people is more Sword & Sorcery paintings on the side of vans.

On this date in 1731, J.S. Bach's sacred Cantata "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Wake up, cries the watchmen’s voice") was premiered in Leipzig. The capstone for the 2nd of Bach's annual church cantata cycle, it became one of his most well-known works in the genre.

But then there were a whole lot of serious superhero comics biting that nine-panel-grid and thinking they were saying serious things just like Watchmen was. It ain't Watchmen's fault.
November 19, 2025 at 9:00 PM
Not really. Snyder, like 99.9% of Watchmen’s readers, had no idea what he was reading.

I'm on the part of my library where I started adding graphic novels and I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about WATCHMEN. I know it's a basic bitch answer but it truly is THAT GOOD, got better with every read, and is the reason I still have many of my friends. Also, if you hate Rorschach fight me.

It's entirely watchmen's fault because Watchmen is actually, genuinely both REAL GOOD and, also, ACTUALLY A DECONSTRUCTION

Carrot is the most dangerous person in Discworld *by far* bc that force of character has a slight refraction of world view & suddenly your gentle giant is Watchmen’s Ozymandias.
Jingo is a truly outstanding Carrot book, between him convincing the armies to play football to him obliquely referencing his definitely not the heir to the throne status in getting Vimes elevated to Duke

deep down he thinks we're all nice chaps, and we wouldn't want to disappoint him
