targets for current and future therapies. As reviewed in this manuscript, preclinical evidence links astrocytes, microglia and satellite glial cells with cortical spreading depolarization, trigeminovascular activation, and the development of orofacial allodynia, processes that (🧵 3/8)

Me: Hmmmm. Got some allodynia today. I wonder if...
Me: *squeezes the hurting skin*
Me:
Me: *dies*

Fact: you can't stimulate the pain away with allodynia like you can do with muscle soreness.

A GLP1 side effect that I never paid much attention to was Allodynia and I didn’t pay attention to it because after almost 2 years I had never experienced it… Until now! This is no joke! Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what do you do to soothe it?

transcriptomic, biochemical, and functional approaches.

RESULT: Repeated inflammatory stimulation markedly increased CXCL13 and CXCR5 expression and ERK phosphorylation in the Sp5C, accompanied by mechanical allodynia, thermal hyperalgesia, glial activation, and elevated IL-6 (🧵 3/9)

Does anyone else have allodynia? I get it all over my body during a flare up and it's so bad in my one hand today. For those who don't know, allodynia is a nerve issue that causes areas of your skin to be extremely painful to touch or temperature changes. 😓 Mines both a lot of the time.

I have allodynia, and anyway I lost my bp machine 🙁

I never heard of it before but he inferred that it is used for diabetic neuropathy and may help as the allodynia is right where my bra touches my back and shoulders. Botox only helps for 8-10 weeks.

I've never used ketamine typically but have had intranasal. I was prescribed a super low dose, though, so found it ineffective. I don't know much about topical k.

Lowering your attacks in general should help the allodynia so a preventive is still a good idea. But sound like a topical is smart, too.

I haven’t tried any. I have had allodynia so bad the days I don’t have migraine pain that I need to do something. Anything that helps break the cycle because I’m so light sensitive driving is an issue. My pharmacist offered ketamine cream and said to ask the people who really know.

Allodynia is one of the worst fibro symptoms and so hard to explain to people. Ice is smart for that. I started logging what triggers those flares using the CareClinic app and found a pattern with weather and stress. Might help you spot yours too. Hope the ice gives you some relief tonight.

I am ABSOLUTELY RAGING, pals. When I had my stroke the medical team knew a) I had fibro b) I’m hypermobile.
Did anyone bother to mention I was at risk of increased allodynia because of (a) and potential claw toe because of (b).
No, no they did not.
ABSOLUTE FUCKERS - having issues with both 🤨😒😡

My foot recently joined the pain party and started hurting to put weight on my heel.

My excess skin makes it hard to find clothes, but not as hard as my allodynia from my fibromyalgia. Touch can hurt, and I have far more skin than I need or want. Less skin, less pain. That’s what I need. 🧵

Managing #Autoimmune condition has been an increased challenge the last few weeks with added stress of what is happening in #Minneapolis. Its like a game of whack-a-mole with symptom flares from hypnotic jerks to allodynia & paresthesia to severe bursitis & more. Just trying to get through.

Allodynia is pain with light touch. Something I assumed was normal my entire life until recently 🧍

I told my rheumatologist about one of my symptoms and she goes “ oh, that’s allodynia” and I’m like “ actually I did know the name because i googled it once 👉👈”

She said it was good I had done research. Most doctors hate that.

Oh, that makes sense. I'd say I haven't had a migraine this week, but maybe one's coming? I have a lot of nerve problems, and this could be anything from aura to allodynia due to fibro/small fiber neuropathy.

It's happened before, but I never thought to track it. I should do that.
