I actually think specifically with this one the issue is that people just identify the interests of specific capitalists with the economy, and of course the people presently rich and powerful are always gonna be for the party that wants less progressive taxation and less anti-trust enforcement.
Economy has always been Republican favored despite all the largest growth periods of the past thirty years being under Democratic administrations. I don’t know if anything could change how the general public views what issues each party is “better” on.

There may one way to salvage the Democratic party. It would have to be a complete and total takeover of the DNC organization by progressives and anti capitalists. Seize control of the entire party machinery and coffers and purge the centrists. Anything short of that will result in more failure.
