Really browsing the internet like it's 2009 when you got a discord server bringing up Dobson, this is why you listen to your artists. They are chroniclers as that was the calm before the storm (GamerGate in 2014, Dobson's crash out was in 2010)...
Short story, that infamous comic was the direct result of him being annoyed by a romantic couple having fun at a comic book convention that led to a series of embarassing events, eventually escalating to GamerGate 2015, effectively continuing from where GamerGate 2014 left off (which led to ANOTHER GamerGate years later on twitter, going after Sweet Baby, Inc). The original GG in 2014 started because of a divorce. The GamerGate in 2015 was due to people escalating what should have been a private matter, but the ex was too bitter and started the whole "ethics in game journalism" nonsense. The original GamerGate from 2014 snowballed into what would become the Alt-Right and shortly, MAGA since twitter during time of the GG targeting SBI, wouldbe bought by a narcissistic billionaire with no moral compass. This is a lot to unpack and make sense of due to how chaotic this all is, and the fact it happened on the internet since you have people throwing words like, "trope", "slop", "flop", and "lolcow" around among any as if they were CANDY.

I am so fascinated with how Catherine II was a historian of sorts (kinda the opposite really? anyway she wrote the damn thing) and as chroniclers in this story tend to do, she'd likely put her own spin on what was written, but making that history herself was her truest desire

As an undergrad,I remember a history prof describing the difference bw historians and "chroniclers" in medieval Europe. The historian's job is to understand,to seek truth,to follow a strict methodology; the chronicler's job is to create a narrative that glorifies the king. Fascism wants chroniclers.
