I did a one-person demonstration in the little South Carolina Town I'll call Dogpatch.

I stood with this sign at an intersection of the US and State highways that feed the center.

Only 5 negative responses, and perhaps nearly 100 positive responses from passing motorists.

Here’s why we always have to lock the frame AND the wheel to a fixed object. Not just the wheel 😔
Unfortunately anything that’s not locked will eventually be stolen

Which? article on insurance has this picture.
Would any insurance cover a bike on the streets that is illegal to ride there ?
( No second brake assuming fixed gear at the back )
Good that frame and wheel are both secured to stand.

At the #repaircafe in Charlotte #vermont today. I was there for the bikes but as usual there weren't that many to work on. I made this junk bike roll again and fixed up a Trek Navigator that needed rear hub bearing service, wheel truing, and brake adjustment. I […]

Petar Stekić of Good Bike in #nacka fixed the gears of my bike and delivered it back to my house, all in one hour. We've been his customers for years now. Highly recommended.

This wheel was made about 13 years ago for a fixed wheelie event it's just a old sprocket off a motorized bicycle kit welded to the original fixed cog It's been in garage ever since then I dug it out about a year ago and finally got around to putting it together, but now I'm 48 and don't really want to flip out 😂by ApprehensiveText6913

One line represents the front wheel
One line represents the back wheel

Can you tell which is which and what direction the bike is traveling?

RIP 'Sam the wheels', an extraordinary man.

Sam was the fastest bicycle wheel builder in the world. And a documentary maker who captured the community of Brixton over decades.

He also fixed bikes well into his 90s - including mine.

steering wheel is held at a fixed angle with constant pressure on the gas or brake pedal and matches the well-known bicycle model. Past works that use acceleration to compute TTC consider only longitudinally aligned [2/5 of https://arxiv.org/abs/2502.08066v1]

Continuing a short series of a #bicycle on an old #postcard... no brakes on this one, though I guess it might be a fixed wheel. Fascinated by the boy's clothing too...

Wirral Repair Café - TOMORROW!

We have volunteers with bike mending skills. In previous months, they have fixed brake pads and cables, gears, and flat tyres. If a part is needed they can advise on where to buy it or recommend a local bicycle repair shop that would be able to help.

I’ve described the Sheldon Brown locking method before but I wanted to show an example more clearly: u lock around rear wheel (inside the rear frame triangle!) and around a fixed post/rack. A cable lock looped through the front wheel and through itself and attached to the u lock.

Time for the fixie to get a bunch of flats! Just fixed a puncture in the rear, only for the valve core on the front to break and shoot its way into the tube.

And just in time for tomorrow's N.O.I.S.E. ride...
