Saturday night double features at the Uptown Theater in the 70s. You got two genre movies (disaster, blaxploitation, hixploitation, Dobermans, you name it). We’d all have a ball heckling the screen.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?
Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

A lot of the hixploitation movies I’ve seen have a real mean streak. My Aunt Beverly, who grew up in Alabama, used to say that Southern hospitality was a mile long and an inch deep, and a lot of these movies show it. I find the country music focused films aren’t as icky.

DUG UP (🇺🇸 US 2013) low budget hixploitation / zombie flick. Terrible redneck acting and a long/dull setup but this knows what it is and runs with it. Some hot totty & serviceable zombie FX, although it's light on gore. High levels of really bad green screen for no reason!
