Is Hassett touring a Hooverville in 1933?

A little girl in an orange coat has plenty of fun just feeding the squirrels. Nelson’s charming image does not include the grimmer reality farther north in Central Park, where homeless people squatted in a shantytown or “#Hooverville” as they waited for better times.’

Why couldn't Donald Trump have been alive in the 1920s? He'd have been the epitome of the dumbass who buys a gazillion stocks on credit on, like, September 30, 1929.
If anyone deserves to live in a Hooverville, it is Trump.
Trump: "We have to go back to the old system. When we have good news, the market should go up. When we have bad news, the market should go down. And we'll take care of inflation as it comes."

This story has existed in my brain for 21 years without me being able to find the title. I'm so pleased now.

oh yes. we might miss out on the oil and gas shareholders who habitually drive around every homeless camp and hooverville in New Mexico and just THROW stacks of money at the people. it’s not like they take every penny they can grab and ship it to fucking texas. they’re humanitarians.

Repugnants *always* looking out for the little guy, right? Only snag there were no electric outlets for toasters in the Hooverville shacks.

Let ‘em eat bread… cold.

Aren and Cass would love as street urchins in a Hooverville until they were seventeen. Cass would get kidnapped during a raid, and vanished without a trace.

An incredibly desperate Aren would turn to crime as a result, and would end up meeting Romeo Montgomery and Julian Cape, two crime bosses

After enduring years of abuse from his father, and discovering that he had basically turned Helen, his only source of comfort within the home, had been turned into a living servant doll, would escape and run away to live in the slums. He would end up meeting with another runaway, Cass Fielders
Lore thread (1)

Aren Augusta is the adoptive son of Doctor Yosuke Shoto and his wife Helen. Yosuke was the head scientist at the ELITE corporation, a pmc which overtime basically took control of the government. To make a long story short, the dr had no business raising a kid

I plan to run for mayor of my local Hooverville and build a grassroots campaign to create change from the ground up.

And here’s a wonderful podcast that really captures the spirit of what’s to come. We’re calling it TrumpTown
