the software and proposed tools I use everyday at work are strongly adopting AI and I’m worried that in the next year i’ll be *forced* to use it in my workflow… I’m so anti-AI that I hate this idea but I can see it happening within the next year and it’s so frustrating and discouraging 😓

/r/petswithbuttons My cat has started to use “vacuum” as a curse word Basically the title. I gave him a “vacuum” button because the vacuum is stressful for him and I wanted to be able to clearly communicate that the vacuum was going to happen and let him know “vacuum all done.” He definitely knows what it means because when the vacuum is running he will push “vacuum” repeatedly and also add “nervous” in there too. But now he has started spamming vacuum after I tell him no, like he is using it as a curse word. For example, he will ask for “snackie” when we JUST got done with snackie and I will say “snackie all done” and then he will go spam the vacuum button. Yeah, ok bud, I hear you loud and clear that you feel “vacuum” about “snackie all done.” Or he snuck a lick from the end of my spicy curry dish (I did not authorize this, I looked away for ONE second), I could tell he regretted this (spicy), and then he went and pressed “snackie vacuum.” Yeah, ok bud, that snackie made your mouth feel “vacuum”. I don’t know what I’m asking really, just commiserating. I guess maybe he needs a “mad” button? How long to press new words and does placement matter? Question to those who have cats that already actively and meaningfully press buttons: When you introduce new words how long does it take before they use them? And do you notice any trends as far as the positioning of words and what they’re more likely to press? My cat is learning very quickly. Under 2 months and she already has 9 words she uses regularly. Then there are another 5 buttons that I know she understands but hasn’t touched yet. Those buttons just so happen to be the buttons that are furthest from the central button area. Do you think positioning is a factor at all? Since we’re new to this I’m guessing I’ll be able to answer my own question soon enough, but curious of other experiences.

Good feedback! I'm out here learning & trying things as I go. I think my ideal gross model would be along the lines of an upfront "for every one of these we sell, you'll get $X" together with other efforts to make it as transparent as possible re: what I'm getting out of it.

I know that such a lack of self-correction has happened in other areas. I have also explained several times, can't remember whether it was this or some other video. And, yes, this is why I do not trust scientists.

I connected with this because of its rhythm— its metronomic power— but I invoke it now to ask for the indulgence of… Time. A series of moments. Chronological order. 1. The ship I largely grew up on passes through an energy net set up by enterprising corporate-sponsored pirates. Many in cryo wake up suffocating to death as the reverberating shockwaves take out system, then back-up, then emergency back-up. Many get their life back as huge portions of corrupted data erase the evidence of debt. Balance can look simply like violence if your point of view is too short. The grandmother who raised me— is still raising me, though I cannot admit it, because I am young— incurs significant damage when the drone helping her in her farm duties glitches and attempts to... as we understand it, harvest her. Myself and the Many-Voice work carefully through the words in the bustle of the party. As water and ground produce naught without seed / May our combined efforts bloom all we need. I spend much of the night quiet, observing, close yet far, wondering why I know so few of these people. Even those I came with. I resolve to change this. I mean it. But I do not follow up on it. 5. I am still covered in the wax from my Flare ceremony. Some has flaked off, but some cakes deep into the lines of my hands, and it all sat long enough that the colour stained my skin. In the Caliban operations center, I find calm. It is maintained, purposeful. In the sanctuary, I find panic. It is stoked, purposefully. I am detained. I am released. A litany against fear is shouted down. Fear continues to be brought to me, shouted at me. My mind returns, more and more, to the calm focus of the operations center, and I tell myself that it does not. That I do not think of it. That I do not find comfort in it. I do not mean it.

It is a big municipal election day here in Hennepin County. While I know we have several races going on, I will talk about the two that I am voting in as a resident of Loring Park in Minneapolis. Whoever you support, it is crucial that you go out and vote. To me, leadership is telling the truth, even when people don't want to hear it. It's doing what's right, even when it's easier to go along with what's wrong. It's listening to your community instead of speaking for them. It's growing and learning from your mistakes. When I returned to Hennepin County in 2019, I'll admit that I had listened to the critics and was skeptical of Jacob Frey myself. As he gained experience dealing with our city's toughest times, he has not turned his back on the City of Minneapolis. He has shown himself to be an honest, courageous, and tested leader. Now is not the time turn our backs on him. We need a mayor who doesn't shy away from difficult truths — who's willing to talk openly about the challenges of crime, addiction, and public health in our neighborhoods. For the safety and strength of Hennepin County, I can say with certainty: it is crucial that Mayor Jacob Frey is re-elected. In my local City Council race, I am proud to support Elizabeth Shaffer, who will be a strong and consistent partner to first responders on the City Council. We got pulled out and put in the book closet. It was the storage closet, really. That's where we would do our reading. And I just remember being embarrassed to go. We were reading easier books than the other students, who had to read chapter books and cool plots… And we were reading like, "the dog and the cat like to play fetch." So, a little bit of a different story for us.

Hello Chief and APD Leadership, I just wanted to jot a quick thank you note for those who participated in this meeting with the Latino community about ICE in our neighborhoods. Sadly, this problem is not going away anytime soon. Historically, the police have been on the wrong side of history during the civil rights movement and the labor movement - defending capital. The pivotal points in American history are when police realized that their solidarity should be with labor; not capital. Labor vs. police: Learning from working-class history Workers World In this current struggle, I believe that we are 2-3 years away from a moment where we see the shift in solidarity. I would like to see Aurora lead, and show something different. It will create discomfort during the transformation. I noticed during the march towards Blue Kangaroo, when the police escort disappeared, that activists I didn't know used their vehicles to block the intersections and protect the marchers. All living things have the capacity to evolve and grow. Government is about to go through a huge evolutionary period and shed that which is not necessary, and re-focus on what is important. As government continues to disintegrate from the top down, we have an opportunity to re-invent the ways we find food, water, shelter and protection. We would like the Aurora Police Department to play a historic role in defending the United States of America, and our city against fascism. We have a unique opportunity to do something different, leave our mark in the history books, and make a difference. I'm excited about the opportunity and look forward to discussing it further. Almost every line has some cooking, eating and drinking, or taste related word - highlighted in green.
**Yeah, this is the sweet spot** **Heat up the scene, it's that big shot** **Chef's choice, 널 위한 킥이야** ***Chef’s choice, it’s a kick just for you*** [TN: I think this is a Kor/Eng metalanguage thing. - In English, when we refer to giving something a kick when we’re talking about food, it means that it’s kind of spicy and has a presence that makes you notice. - But this is a bit of a false friend if we look at the meaning in Korean, and I’m pretty sure this particular usage of 킥 is a neologism that arose out of Culinary Class Wars. - I think Hobi’s riffing off the “Chef’s choice” because 킥 is when a chef that’s known for something specific - a style, a dish, etc - perfectly executes their specialty showcasing their skill/individuality (at least that’s my understanding of this usage).] **You lost in the sauce, no turnin' back** **더 취할 거야 밤새, 기울여 절로** ***More intoxicated/drunk all night, knock it back*** [TN: This entire song is One Big Pun of Korean words that mean to chew on/ingest stuff both literally and figuratively (e.g. 씹다). - 기울려 절로 means keep drinking - But 기울리다 also has the meaning of tilting towards something. A common expression that uses this word is 귀를 기울려 - tilt/bend your ear like you’re listening in very intently/giving someone attention. - 절로 means automatically or on its own, fits with the lost in the sauce, no turnin’ back feeling in that you’re not really in control of your behavior around this. - My interpretation: If you look at the next line about about 핀잔, it feels a bit like he’s saying that people automatically/can’t help but pay attention to him, and some of those people are haters saying 핀잔, very in line with the overall message of the song] **난 빈 잔은 받고, 이젠 핀잔은 걸러** ***I take/receive an empty cup and now I sift out rebuke*** - 빈 잔 (empty cup) and 핀잔 (scolding, telling-off, rebuke) sound very similar. - 거르다 can mean to sift (so if you’re draining your boiled spaghetti noodles through a colandar, this is the word you use). - 이젠 (이제는) means now, but now as in the now that is different from then. There’s an implied change of state in this word choice (as opposed to 지금). So this line feels pretty swaggy to me in that he’s saying that ugly words people say just fall through the holes and go down the drain. **좋은 게 좋은 거지 좋다는 게, 왜 뭐?** ***I like the things that I like, I said that I like them, what of it?*** **느껴봐 어서, 꺾지 말고, 벌컥** ***Just hurry up and feel it, bottoms up, gulp*** **Snap it up like a Getty** [TN: Lol this line is kind of amazing.
