Her breathy, tired speech jolted Nitara’s memory. A memory that had been all but forgotten until now, of one day, centuries ago, when a purple light glowed in the corner of her eye as she flew past a mountain, far above the city. She remembered looking at it, thinking it strangely humanoid, but her mind had been even farther into the clouds, and she brushed it off as an aurora, common during the winter. But it had been no aurora. It had been a demon. “You’ve been to Vaeternus before, haven’t you?” “I travelled there once, though I did not know at the time that it was the realm of Nensiis, or what Nensiis were. I saw…” A light sparked in Ashrah’s purple eyes as she looked from Nitara’s coat to her hair. “The Red Star. I believed it to be an elevated being, perhaps even a god. But it was you. I saw you.” Nitara moved her weight from one leg to the other, bothered by the intensity of the demon’s stare. She much preferred it when Ashrah avoided looking her in the eye. “To think I could’ve killed you there and then and prevented all this.” Ashrah shook her head. “Only my astral form left the Netherrealm. Had you tried to touch me, I would have been but a ghost.”

Stephens: “She knows too much.” Fran’s fury had not relented all night. “Don’t you see? Aubrey knows names, places… she could tell him where our strongholds are!” “And doesn’t he know more? Seems to me, she could just as well be learning a bit of his news. I have a mind to ask hard questions, and I will—after the battle.” “Don’t you care that she’s his whore?” “Oh, are we down to Staubaun name calling now? Well that’s a shame men will hang on my name, seems to me, and none on yours!” “I bedded her. Was her first man.” “And the Old Mothers would tell you a woman’s first man is her first lesson in choosing badly! So I’ll put it straight. Aubrey’s my kin. She holds clan right. The man who shares her bed can live on Thegn lands and sit for the Witan.” Truth was, Nalf had half a mind to strangle Aubrey himself, woman or not, if only for that reason. “I sent her to bed Hans Thegn, get herself a King. But no! She had to make things complicated. Gets herself the one man no Kheld will stomach. But what do you think you can do about that? What can any of us do about it? Stand up and kill her? She’ll just say the Mother orders women to take what men they fancy, and she fancied that one!” So much talking about this was making Nalf queasy.

#MayWeDance D20: Rhiann's had a number of affairs ranging from fuck-buddies to serious relationships. I mean, she spent her teenage years and most of her 20s as part of a rebel cell in the wilderness. Lots of adrenaline, lots of "thank god we're alive", lots of "now or never" energy.

Funny you should ask, a handful of characters were mere background support until a brainstorming session with a certain group of writers (including our lovely prompt game host) resulted in those characters becoming very very important to the plot.

In SORDANEON, Book 1 of the Triempery series, readers meet Dorilian and his younger brother Lev, who is disabled. Their father Deben won't win Dad of the Year. #epicfantasy
Excerpt from SORDANEON, Book 1 of the Triempery Revelations series by L.L. Stephens: “After the ceremony. Until then, he stays.” Deben rose, hauling Levyathan up with him, causing the boy to stagger to his feet. “Look at him. A waste of Permephedon’s effort. Even Marenthro cannot unlock a shred of potential from his quivering, dimwitted skin.” He shoved the boy toward Dorilian, who leapt forward as soon as he saw the movement. Freed, Levyathan dashed headlong into his brother’s arms as their father rose. Pressing the inside lockstone, Deben left the chamber. The door closed with a whisper. Dorilian drew Levyathan to him as the boy clenched his bruised arms about his ribs and burrowed close, his tear-streaked face crushed against Dorilian’s chest.

I want to see more trans lesbians in romance stories. Obviously they exist in the indie novel scene and there is a few in the indie web comic scene but even those are pretty hard to find especially as leads. I just want more.

As the literal "brings a trailer to a first date" lesbian let me say that love at first sight is actually lust/enamoration at first sight, and that real love takes work.
