Time to look into some old websites and update them. It’s always great to see how the web and tooling progresses

This made me think of the old web directories that Google and Yahoo had. They shut them down years ago but curlie.org/en seems like an active successor to dmoz. Might be a fun way to browse the web again.

This reminded of this old bennet foddy article about flavours of frustration that I think every so often (that is less focused on design then subjective sensation), and how those could be incorporated with more intentionality:

Eleven Flavors of Frustration

Trump declares fentanyl a weapon of mass destruction
Hahaha! THAT old canard - does this dementia-riddled fool think we are going to buy that? Look at his face, even he doesn't buy that.

Trump just pardoned Ross Ulbricht, the largest dark web fentanyl dealer in history.

So Google's recently dropped support for older browsers, including Internet Explorer, old Firefox versions, Netscape Navigator, and even the Dreamcast's web browser, among others.

What a sad time to be in the retrogaming/retrocomputing community. 😔

The only people use Gemini is because they haven't figured out how to disable it and use "old Google" for searches instead. (It involves resetting your default browser to Google Web, as I recall.)

My LinkedIn account will be 18 years old next year.

I will delete my account if I'm asked to upload an ID. It would be patently ridiculous for LinkedIn to have to collect my ID for any reason, especially age verification.

My account itself is almost an adult.

This goes for all other web […]

I love the idea of picking up a tiny YouTube series again like that old “Conquer the Internet” (web exploration series) but i need better ideas, better stories to tell. It was supposed to be a “guide to the internet” sort of thing, but i wasn’t confident enough to continue..

How old am I? I had a Geocities page that was featured in a printed AOL directory of the Best of the Web.

I'm reaaallly old school when it comes to vital information. I never started using online services. I use KeyPass locally for personal credentials, and for my over 200 past and present clients as a web dev,.

Right, I was in school and using the .edu email until after AOL became part of the World Wide Web and all of the other big email programs started up.

I *am* however yahoo years old. 😂

Ah, so the kind of stuff that AI is trained on then, rather than AI itself.

Although… a lot of old software / web stuff is now kept running by getting AI to patch it because the original authors are no longer available and it was never well documented. As a result things just keep getting worse.

i miss the old web
It’s so cool that every website is just Like This now. We used to send guys to the chair for putting pop-up ads on their sites. Now if I want to read something I have to read single lines between autoplaying video ads that use so much RAM they force the browser to reload every 5 seconds.

Thanks to dan raphael, I'll be on the radio TONIGHT at KBOO 90.7 Portland, and on the web. It's 10pm Portland time (midnight in New Orleans). I'll be reading an extended set from my new book, "A Limited Number of Miracles." Hope you tune in! #portland #poetry

I deal with the web of issues, unlike other old people. I don't see things in black or white like you young people. I see the interconnections, the influences. For instance, it appears you have not taken into account the fact that health insurance in the US is an employment benefit and that impact
