average GitHub Actions experience

That and Microsoft breaking the Linux images, messed up homebrew install on osx runners, and random timeouts
me: hold on to this thing for me please
github actions cache: no problem boss. i've got it
me: you got it?
github actions cache: i successfully confirm i do not got it
github actions cache: hey all your builds failed
github actions cache: also you're a terrible human

OSX 26 on an M4 with ample memory seems shockingly slow. Yesterday I was like "well, it's indexing again" but today it's more of the same. (Upgraded a week or two ago, workload of web, Preview, dev tools like clang, Claude Code.)

good god my laptop just updated to the new ios and... <must be positive must be positive> I'm really looking forward to that new head of design guy who apparently knows what he's doing absolutely sandblasting away AT LEAST the last 2 versions of ios + osx because ... fucking hell.

ios / osx . you know what I mean. im too traumatised to write good.

While I'm complaining about how much computer UX sucks these days. I'm being driven insane by every single fucking UI redrawing itself 1 μs before servicing your click input event so you actually click on the wrong fucking button! NATIVE osx AND ANDROID APPS ARE DOING THIS! It's not just web pages!

i've been keeping mine around for osx builds but i've been meaning to install linux on it after seeing how much support there is in the kernel for even shit like the touch bar
January 22, 2026 at 3:38 AM
agghhh fuckit i could use some attention

(also this one has alt text so if u wanna do ur own u can get it from mine!!!! i just had to do a quick image surgery and then the osx text select tool)

mm, yea, you'd want adaptors for different display environments

i primarily care about osx personally, but also there are clearly *some* portable approaches here bcz like talon does overlays on osx and linux w/the same codebase and iiuc the same exact rendering p much????

I installed OSX Tahoe on my Macbook last night. Turns out the Music Player app is now f*cked.
I used the volume slider a lot because it was always on screen. Guess what's now hidden behind a button?
And who wants track info _at the bottom of the screen_?
Why Apple, why?

Windows, Android, ChromeOS, iOS & OSX are all US-based. Many defence & security systems are US or Israeli products. A lot of UK.gov is hosted on US clouds & software. The majority of the world's Internet traffic flows through CDNs & security systems that are US/Israeli products. This will be messy

Bringing a modern, Linux-first analogy of SwiftUI/AppKit, Quartz, and some core apps to Linux. All of this, adjusted to what's possible today - think OSX Snow Leopard but it's 2026.

Misdecayed's demo is getting an update in 2026!
This update doesn't add much in the way of new content, but it does upgrade the RPG Maker engine version from VX Ace to MV.
This means we'll have more modern support for the game, including the possibility of native Mac OSX / Linux ports.

Been daily driving Asahi fedora remix on my macbook and I gotta say. They kinda nailed it. All the weird apple features I buy macbooks for work like the GREAT touchpad, audio, webcam, and mics all work exactly as good as they do in OSX. Save some missing software, it's VERY polished.
January 7, 2026 at 7:05 PM
They coulda just got the sound working, and that woulda been fine, but they spent the time to make it work as well as it does in OSX. The mics beamform too! And the touchpad feels better on linux than it does with the official windows drivers for it in bootcamp. The extra effort really shows!

Oh shit... I accidentally made an osx edition... Or it runs the iPhone version anyway... Oh no..

The steam hardware survey is interesting as you’re now actually substantially better off supporting Linux for your game than osx now if you had to pick one.

There’s more Linux gamers than vr headset owners even which shocks me.

We were working to get 9.0.7 out in time for the holidays, but we just missed! 9.0.7RC2 is very likely going to be 9.0.7 so please give it a spin and let us know if you see any issues.
